Sexson is still due a ton of money this season and has been a huge disappointment for the Mariners...does this spark any interest in kenny williams...i would hope not

If he clears waivers...

I would love to have him on the bench over Ozuna. Sexson hits lefties hard.

Sexton ?

He was horrible in Arizona and is horrible in Seattle.
Might as well see what Dave Kingman is doin’ now if we’re talkin’ Richie Sexton.

and, yet, as SSH points out he still hits lefties to the tune of about 1.000 OPS

gosh, we wouldn’t want someone like that to put out there against lefties, would we? nope, let’s just stick with wise and ozuna.

Good Idea

Let’s get a guy who is chronically injured, and old. And big, and slow. We don’t have enough of those guys, LARE.
GOSH, lets get a bottle of Elmer’s Glue while we’re at it so we can hold him together. Great idea. Maybe some shoes from Carl Lewis too.
How bout Greg Luzinski ? I’m sure he can still swing it! Sheesh!
LARE, you write poetry and recipes quicker than this guy can move.
Lefty shmefty, you’re thinkin’ too hard, LARE. Not this guy.

Are you seriously arguing that you would rather have...

Ozuna or Wise on the Sox bench over Sexson? Seriously? Seriously?

Jeebus cripes, please stop posting then. I come to SSS so I don’t have to see ridiculously moronic opinions like those posted at WSI.

WSI, "Can I please come back?"

What don’t you understand about Sexson…..
Old, slow, and broken…...and horrible. Did I mention old and slow…and broken?
We got enough of those guys….
If you don’t like it go back to WSI, bro.
Say this out-loud to yourself…......”Richie Cunningham….er…..Sexson”.
We didn’t say we’d rather have the other two. Don’t put words in our mouths.
Richie Sexson….What are you watchin’, bro? Just what….are….you…..watching?
Wow.

Answer this question, please...

Which player would you rather have on the Sox bench?

Pablo Ozuna
DeWayne Wise
Richie Sexson

by SSH2005 on Jun 18, 2008 10:28 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Also...

Are you aware that the Sox struggle against lefties? And have you looked at Sexson’s stats versus lefties?

I guess not.

Would Richie Sexson himself please quit posting on this website?

Dear Richie's brother..

I would rather have DeWayne and Pablo.

Love,

Greg Luzinski

well...

although i posted this saying i would hope that the sox not take a chance on sexson…giving that statement some thought and going by the figure SSH threw out with that OPS against lefties…he would be a great addition to have on the BENCH….perhaps the old change of scenery to a first place team may be what the big guy needs…and chisox11 calm down dude…use some common sense when you’re going through the options to have on your bench…do we want home run power or a 50/50 shot at slapping a base hit or a bunt single…thanks for pointing out the facts SSH

by furby2056 on Jun 18, 2008 10:44 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Oh My......

I’d rather have a guy who could slap a base hit and run like a rabbit. And steal second….and score on a routine single from second. And tag from third on a fly ball. Drag bunt. Score on a double from 1st base. Cover ground. Healthy. Relatively young.
You said a 50/50 chance of slapping a base hit? That’s 1 in 2 with your odds. I’ll take that any day. So, in essence, sighting your probabilities, and looking at SSH’s probabilities I’ll go with 50/50 on this one. We have enough horses that should hit bombs. We have zero speed. No way would I take a roster spot away from a guy who MAY hit against lefties and MAY hit a home run.

We haven't won a World Series since 1908. And we brag about it.

Ozuna and Sexson = Same age.

I like this guy. He’s like WTGTD with crazier mood swings and no perceptible sense of humor.

I love it when clueless Sox fans...

think that Ozuna is young and good. And Ozzie pinch-runs Wise over Ozuna. What does that tell you?

by SSH2005 on Jun 19, 2008 12:43 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Dear Richie fan-club

I don’t think I ever wrote Ozuna was “young and good”. I would take Ozuna and Wise over Sexson. Let’s stick to the idea here now…Can Ozuna run faster than your brother? Yes. Can Wise run faster than your brother? Yes. Can they both run to home plate quicker than your brother? Yes. Can they get down the line quicker than your brother? Yes. And to explain the term “relatively young”....refers to there ages in relation to their abilities. And you stated that “Ozzie pinch runs Wise over Ozuna”. What does that mean? Would he pinch run your brother over Ozuna too? How about Hall over Ozuna?
Basic Reading and comprehension. Hang in there, though….you’ll get it.
You put more words in peoples’ mouths than Hillary Clinton. And take the “plz” out of your plead to “Kenny”.....it looks goofy.

We haven't won a World Series since 1908. And we brag about it.

by chisox11 on Jun 19, 2008 1:12 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

The point is that Ozuna barely gets any playing time as it is...

so I would rather have the power bat that kills lefties on the bench. You may not have noticed but we have a DH who struggles against lefties.

by SSH2005 on Jun 19, 2008 9:14 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sure I would rather have Sexson

but Thome appears to be holding his own against lefties this year…

"I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It's all in the game though, right? "

I understand your point, SSH.....

I’m simply saying that I disagree with you, with some sarcasm and attempted humor. I understand Sexson was once a threat at the plate. I don’t think he has done anything since he went to Arizona years ago…...then Seatlle. Arizona still owed him a TON of money, and so does Seattle.
A threat off the bench? I’d still stick with the other two. We obviously disagree. Good banter though. I enjoy a good, heated conversation. We’re both have ideas to make our team better. I think one way, you think the other…..and if I were Kenny I’d “fire your ass right now…”

Eat it seattle eat it

that’s a great point and even more the reason to give him a shot before other teams try to

Arizona had to eat it too. A TON. I thinks it bad karma.......

but great for Richie’s 401K.

Dear Mrs. Ozuna

chisox11 you’re a funny guy…what he means by running wise over ozuna is that he sees that ozuna isn’t what he was a few years back (which back then he wasn’t the greatest either) and has lost a step or two…and maybe our good friend ssh should take out the kenny—sign sexson, plz…and replace it with “no more clueless sox fans…plz”

by furby2056 on Jun 19, 2008 2:03 AM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Dear Furby for Christmas,

Your sense of humor is about original as your furby name. Did you think of those things all by yourself? Mrs. Ozuna? and “Plz”?
Just saying that I’d rather have Ozuna and Wise than a Richie Sexson.
Richie Sexson is worthless. You must struggle with reading and comprehension as well. That’s ok, too.
Tell you what, let’s get Richie, see how much he produces when he hits lefties, see how he gets hurt for the 15th time while swinging the bat, and we’ll send him all dolls of you and a sign that says “GET WELL SOON, RICHIE…..PLLLLEEEEEEAAAAASSSEEE” ! ! !
Have you bun boys looked at what he has done with Arizona and Seattle? Talk to someone from those places ! ! ! Seven-Saints-on-a-Raft are you guys absolutely obtuse.

We haven't won a World Series since 1908. And we brag about it.

all i ask

chisox11 is for you to take a look at sexson’s stats…with an exception of his year in arizona when he played in only 23 games with 90 ABs…and last season where he played in only 121 games…he had played in 148 games or more in each season dating back to 2000 with cleveland/milwaukee…and although his avg with the mariners may not be impressive in ‘05 and ‘06 he had over 30 HRs and 100 RBIs…and from 1999-2007 he has had six seasons where he has surpassed 100 RBIs and one with 91…also he has hit at least 20 HR every season since 1999 except 2004 in arizona

Now let’s shift our attention to a more worthy task at hand….....

From BP

Dewayne Wise: -1.0
Pablo Ozuna: -1.5
Richie Sexson: -2

this fanpost's use of the 'richie' nickname made me wanting sexson

why? anyone has seen the british sitcom bottom!

Bottom is a British sitcom of the early 1990s (and later a series of stage shows) written by Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson. They are also the main stars, respectively playing Richard Richard (Richie) and Edward Elizabeth Hitler (Eddie), who share a flat in Hammersmith, West London. The programme ran for three series, and is noted for its intentionally crude and highly violent slapstick.

The incessant gags about bodily fluids and genitalia didn’t always hit the mark but they came thick and fast (no pun intended) and the amoral, surreal characters were strangely refreshing to watch.

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
