Juan Silverio is clutch, can probably buy you a beer
Juan Silverio has played only 5 professional baseball games. He has 13 RBI, including 7 tonight. He's got bizzaro splits; batting .083 with the bases empty and .778 w/ RISP.
This would be a great start to a promising professional career if his listed birthdate (17) is accurate. At possibly 21, however, the fast start is considerably less impressive. We'll have to hold out on rushing to judgment on Silverio until we get more reliable info on the Wilder situation. Still, the fast start in a nearly barren farm system is worth note.

I don't see how he'd have money to buy someone a beer
He’s probably on a pretty tight fixed income. The Dominican Social Security program is hardly lavish.
The harvard honor student super scout that gave the age outing
Is hardly one to be trusted. The kid could be 40, who knows. But I take everything that was said on that subject as associated BS because of how everything went down on that.

He is just
as likely to be his true age as is any dominican signee. The “source” that reported the “firing” of regier and the exposure of their Baseball America “accomplices” has no more credibility than any other larry sinclair running around the internet. It was a fantastic tale upon it’s first presentation and has only become moreso as time has progressed.
MLB Does Age Checks
on these guys before the teams pay the kids the bonus, according to what I have read (where, unfortunately, I do not remember). Other than some clown, who has since disappeared, telling tales about HGH and overage signings, we have no reason to believe that he is not the age they say (17?). They gave him a lot of money – too much if he was 21 (or whatever).
If the hot start ends up with him promoted to High A ball, then maybe I'll be suspicious
because it’ll suggest they want him playing with his age group peers to some degree. but even still, i don’t think there’s even smoke at this point.
are you trying to use stats around here? what the fuck do you think this is? - MM
