LOS ANGELES – Third baseman Joe Crede said his lower back feels fine and that he should be available for pinch-hitting duty Wednesday night and return to the White Sox’s lineup on Thursday.
Crede said his lower back tightened up during the Sox’s flight to Los Angeles on Monday night and that he had trouble getting loose after pre-game batting practice Tuesday.

Although they don’t end till about 1 here on the east coast it gives me an excuse to stay up till 1 drinking. Of course have I’ll be feeling some lassitude in the morning at work, but such is life.
Floyd's K/W ratio
Over the last 28 days, last 5 starts, it has been 30:6. That means prior to May 27 (or his first 9 starts), he was only 25:24. (I’ve taken the liberty to take out IBB, i think). I don’t remember reading anything that would have led to this change. Since I dont really know anything about the mechanics of pitching, can anyone else explain it?
He was banned for today partly because he uses bad words (in a mean way; unlike everyone else who only use them when absolutely necessary in order to fight the terrorists)

He's got really inconsistent mechanics
my dad walked by once and remarked “that guy doesn’t throw the same way twice” and then walked out. so he’ll go through streaks where he’s “feeling it” and streaks where he can’t find the zone. how those play out will lead to divergent k/bb numbers.

I was slow on it tonight...
The Nitty Gritty:
I’m kind of embarrassed by this one, since he’s pretty clearly no great shakes. He’s old and basically AAAA like, I don’t know, Heath Phillips or something. I didn’t even know he existed until just a couple minutes ago and he’s only made one start this year. Unsurprisingly, he hasn’t been put in Kalk’s database yet, so I’m using his 2007 pitch f/x stuff. Keep in mind that he made 5 starts and had 12 appearances, so that will overstate his velocity and stuff to some degree. As we know, relief pitching bumps velocity and stuff. Also, I’m not sure how good the pitch f/x data is, since his fastball got classified as a splitter somehow and he’s listed as being without a fastball. Obviously, that’s screwed up.
So onto the analysis. He has no real out pitch and his fastball isn’t good enough to get away with that. He throws more balls than average for his fastball, which means, like most pitchers without a big fastball, he nibbles at the corners. I suppose he might just have control problems, but come on he has trouble breaking 90. That would be just sad. In sum: combine a bunch of meh stuff with meh control and you get a meh pitcher. He doesn’t scare me and our bats have been hot. Combine that with a park that’s perfect for Gavin Floyd and you’ve got to give us a pretty good chance to win the game. No guarantees since this is baseball, but I put our o/u at 65%.

after getting more beckham at bats, i like what i see. he gets a ton of torque in his turn and it’s the reason why he’s got such pop. his hands and hips come through very nicely. i don’t know if he’ll hit for average because it’s a very pull oriented swing, but the pop and approach should make up for it. again, khalil greene sounds good.

They’ve gone 4-7 against such pitchers the last 3 years…
The key… In 2005, the Sox never allowed more than 4 runs in any of those games. The opposing starter didn’t matter because they were always going to be in the game.

re: interleague play. wasn’t it last month people were talking about how the nl had closed the gap? if the nl wins the remainder of the games tonight (and they won’t), the best they can be is 85-114 so far this season in il play.
