I must be completely confused about the concept of baseball, because it seems like a pretty good idea to me. You have a guy with the one of 5 lowest ERA’s in the AL on the mound, this isn’t Nick Masset out there on the mound, and we’re facing the Dodgers, not exactly an offensive power house. You get runs where you can get them.

in addition, it wasn’t like he sacrificed an out anyway (not sure why they called it a sac when it looked like he was bunting for a base hit). it was a good bunt that took a perfect play to end in an out.

On gameday it said that Ardoin put 4th pitch in play and it was an out. Then is shows him on first and a “single to ss” in the game log. Very odd.

Danks played in the AL central at USCellular, Kershaw plays in the NL West and he is only a year younger than Danks in either case.

he’s almost 2 years younger than danks was at this time last year.

danks dob: 4/15/85, so at the beginning of last season he was 21 years, 11.5 months
kershaw dob: 3/19/88, so at the beginning of this season he was 20 years, .5 months

based on his line drive rate, his present BABIP is higher than expected. but i’m not sure we have enough information about alexei as of yet to determine what his “true” xBABIP would be. i certainly would not rule out him being a guy who could expect to have a babip above league average like that, based on his style and skills.

Craptastic, but what do you expect?

On the surface, runners at 1st and 3rd, no outs sounds like it should score at least a run, but having the pitcher at bat in that situation, what do you really expect?

What I may have had him do would be to hack away there, hoping for a ball in the air, a run scoring dp, or a strike out, but that could easily result into the same situation as well.
