400 too...

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.

by The Wizard on Jun 26, 2008 9:04 PM CDT up reply actions

Anyone else hate these developmental picks...

that don’t play in the NBA for years or don’t even pan out anyways?

Anyone remember Dragan Tarlać hype? Haha.

by SSH2005 on Jun 26, 2008 9:04 PM CDT reply actions

so, what's next year's lineup?

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.

by The Wizard on Jun 26, 2008 9:06 PM CDT up reply actions

As of opening day Rose won't start, but he will definitely take that spot from Kirk

I envision
Rose
Kirk or Thabo (I have a feeling Ben will be signed and traded for a quality big man, and Hinrich played the 2 a lot at Kansas).
Deng
Tyrus
Noah

If they could somehow move Nocioni for a big man, they could re sign Gordon and bring him off the bench where he’s best suited. Buy out Larry Hughes and send him to hell, and sign a durable backup PG like Chucky Atkins.

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 27, 2008 11:23 AM CDT up reply actions

Don't forget the Magic's Fran Vasquez of Spain

from 3 years ago – never even signed.

I know what you mean.

They keep saying “Expect this guy to stay in Europe”

Then why draft him now?

I believe in Harvey, Illinois

by Hazymania on Jun 26, 2008 9:07 PM CDT up reply actions

because you're picking late anyway and don't anticipate any big roster moves.

so instead of stunting some guy by not playing him or having in the rotation, have him continue to play in his premiere league overseas.

Vitale just shat on Westbrook

I was expecting him to qualify it in typical Dickie V style by saying something along the lines, “Don’t get me wrong baby he’s still a good player just higher than I thought” but he didn’t

by jeeves on Jun 26, 2008 9:34 PM CDT reply actions

He's not that big, and can't play the PG or SG particularly well

Combo guards die a quick death in the NBA, but I think Westbrook will be fine cause he can be a really good defender, and has all the intangibles

He is not decent

Larry Hughes is bad at everything. He’s not even Duhon, who is mediocre at certain things, like throwing alley oops and running the offense during blowouts. He’s old and can’t defend that well, which was what made him so good in Washington.

25 or 28

25 for no real reason, 28 is halfway between MJ and Scottie.

He was joking around yesterday saying he might wear 91 as an homage to Rodman.

Shooting guard

Tons of athletic potential, but shitty on defense. Most likely ends up in the D League.

I'm back only to make these comments

1.) Worst seque ever…Patrick Ewing Jr….Son of Patrick Ewing who played a lot of games here in New York. He also played against Larry Bird who we have here with us…he could have just said son of Patrick Ewing who played in NYC. We now have LB with us.

2) Did Bird get botox? He was completely expressionless…if it wasn’t for his mouth I wouldn’t believe he was on a live feed

answer to sonny weems pick.

traded for a player to be named in a bit who according to pax “won’t be available for a couple of years.” and no phone call from rose lobbying for cdr.

Bulls trade for Turkish center Omer Asik...

Link:

The Bulls later traded Sonny Weems (selected with the 39th pick) to the Denver Nuggets for Denver’s 2009 regular second round Draft pick. The Bulls then acquired Omer Asik from the Portland Trail Blazers (selected with the 36th pick) for Denver’s 2009 regular second round Draft pick, New York’s 2009 regular second round Draft pick, and the Bulls 2010 regular second round Draft pick.

by SSH2005 on Jun 27, 2008 7:57 AM CDT up reply actions

so in order to go from 39 to 36

they gave portland 3 second round picks?

am I reading this right? can’t be…

damn. looks like i missed out on a pretty serious draft convo.

wish i hadn’t been drinking and playing bags for the last few hours. actually, nevermind. but i dig the bulls love. really pumped about pax’s press conference, especially when he talked about tyrus and rose. i’m thinking big things for those 2.

They're gonna give daddy the Rain Man suite, you dig that?

colin, you lazy POS

Where’s the recap from yesterday afternoon? Fer Chrissakes. You’d better not be sleeping at 4 PM again. We have a GD emotional series starting today, and we need to have our Sox in a row.

Really interesting point made yesterday re: Euro Players

Someone on ESPN made this point:

With the relative strength of the Euro against the Dollar, many of the lower picked European players don’t have as large of an incentive to come over here nowadays.

Kinda crazy that you can make more money over in the Euro leagues nowadays. But I can see why. I lived in Europe in 06 and it just killed my bank account. Well worth it though.

by 815Sox on Jun 27, 2008 10:06 AM CDT reply actions

Yeah many European players also sign contracts with no buyout clauses

Meaning if you draft them and they’re under contract, you’re fucked until it expires.

Most European players have done all they can overseas though, and come to NBA for the competition. Guys like Rudy Fernandez was the equivalent of Kobe in Spain, so coming to the NBA will be a new test for him. I am intrigued by the Turkish guy the Bulls got. His contract will be up in 2 years, meaning he develops on his own and comes as a ready to play guy in 2 seasons. He was highly rated by Ford and Hollinger, who considered him a lottery pick.

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 27, 2008 11:25 AM CDT up reply actions

I was also surprised

By the Turkish soccer teams performance in the Euro cup. I think they are full EU members now.. I’ve had a couple friends that went there and loved the place.
