Gavin = 2006 Javy

Great stuff – coughs up the runs just presented to him.

I took the "under".

slow down a minute there bob

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.

nah

Javy actually lost games

we havent heard “send him to the pen” yet as far as Gavin goes

Tony Pena Jr. has his own model bat.

And it nearly hit Floyd.

How do you get your own model when you are below .200?

Who wants to buy THAT? We already got THAT!

I took the "under".

by winningugly on Jun 3, 2008 8:59 PM CDT up reply actions

Behold, the Power of Zero
I know, I know, the Royals have won two straight games. Break out the champagne, already, right?

That’s great, but you know what’s really sweet? Tony Pena has gotten his OPS+ to 0. He went 0-for-1 on Friday and again on Saturday, bringing his season line to .155/.175/.194.

You think I’m crazy, but there’s so much about the Royals that fascinates me - their free-agent “strategy”; the continued presence of Pena, Ross Gload, and Joey Gathright on the roster; that the team’s top two home-run hitters (Jose Guillen and backup catcher Miguel Olivo) have combined for more homers than walks; that Alberto Callaspo has scored fewer runs than Esteban German despite reaching base 2 1/2 as many times as German; that Hideo Nomo got to pitch in actual big-league ball games this year for them - I could go on, but you get the idea.

Still, it all pales in comparison to Pena’s crowning achievement of reaching an OPS+ of 0. Not everyone can do that, you know…

Floyd's K/BB ratio

I’m too lazy to look it up, but it seems to be rising. Promising for the future. I don’t think he’ll keep his HR rate down, so I expect the ERA to rise. But his recent pitching is making me more optimistic that he’s not a fluke.

by hitlesswonder on Jun 3, 2008 9:03 PM CDT reply actions

If he could be

A 175IP guy with an ERA+ around 110, that would be fucking huge for this club. How long does he have bebore arb?

by madvillian on Jun 3, 2008 9:07 PM CDT up reply actions

if he does that we should trade his ass

dude, that was totally not swish you saw on rush street last night. swish was at home playing xbox.

by colintj on Jun 3, 2008 9:10 PM CDT up reply actions

what he did early in the season was a fluke brought about by an absence of gopher balls

if he starts K’ing and cuts the walks, he could mitigate the coming HRs. Summer will not treat Gavin’s FB tendencies well.

New Royals reliever

I would bet my left nut that no one in the history of baseball has had a monogram “YY” until this guy. No one.

usually stop by to ridicule us when we’re playing against KC?

I don't want to be too negative....

because it’s a great night….we are going to win and possible gain a game on CLE and MIN….but…

The Thome/Konerko problem (and granted there is little to be done) somehow needs to be addressed….it’s getting silly.

Anyone remember the Crosstown Classic game

before there was interleague play, at old Comiskey, fog rolled in when the Sox were at bat, they got some runs on some pop ups because no one could find the ball?

Well, Ramirez is looking like the real deal...

Now all we need to do is find out if he can play a good defensive SS. If Richar has a productive rest of the season at Charlotte, we could have a very intriguing young double-play combination for next season.

Come on guys.

Not one “Sox win” , “That’s a winner”, “This one is ova”.

Nada. After all the turmoil of the last few days, we’re pretty nonchalant about a victory, where we scored 8 runs.

Right from “Bobby FEARS Gathright” to “Haha, did anyone see Ramirez do the HR bump?”

had first row, 135 section right behind home plate. so glad i waited an extra day to attend the game. now i can fly back west content

ramirez is making every wish of mine true and keeping uribe on the bench

FYI.

Both Quentin’s and AJ’s homers were wind blown pop flies. Even though the flags didn’t show much wind, both homers looked like medium deep flies and then they drifted, drifted and drifted some more.

Watching Iguchi in this Cubs / Padres games...

makes me happy that Ramirez has gotten hot. Iguchi looks nothing like the hitter that he was with the Sox.

Meanwhile, the Cubs look like they are going to win their ninth in a row.
