Cabrera best defensive SS in baseball?

http://www.insidethebook.com/ee/index.php/site/article/how_well_can_we_project_team_defense_and_other_uzr_data/

MGL's early UZR postings show Cabrera at the top of the heap. Also of note, Q isn't quite perfect (although small sample size of course and as I recall his UZR has been fine in the past). Juan was quite good at 2B (it would be interesting to see  Alexei's UZR). These are all per 150 games so Cabrera projects to +36, but of course is not likely to be that valuable defensively at the end of the year. And since defensive stats are best evaluated over a couple of years instead of a couple of months we must bear in mind these are very small sampke sizes.

The White Sox rank 4th in AL in defense according to UZR at +15. And that feels about right to me.

there is no doubt on this

this is clear

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.

He looked pretty shakey the first couple of weeks

No he looks fucking awesome. He seems to make every play.

What was his rep coming in? I thought it was good but not great?

SSH, WTGTD, stanchar, jeff, and MilwaukeeLefty.

Cheat occasionally waiting in the wings. Otherwise, not many agree with that.

Oh, and the guy who's probably flooded out in Hoosierville,

if he’s still among the living.

It does point out one assessment by one of our own

that might need to be revisited:

JRE, ready to say that The Necktie might be an upgrade over Uribe? If only for a few weeks?

The Necktie?

We need to pick a nickname for this guy and stick to it.

And I’ve said before that I agree that Ramirez should be playing second base until he shows that he shouldn’t.

Over the long haul, the jury’s still out. Remember that in 2004 Uribe looked like a world-beater, too.

Too Dick Cheney-like

I think of Lockheed/Northrop/Gen. Dynamics, not baseball. And for those of us who lived through bay of Pigs, the Cuban Missle has a slightly negative and fearful connotation.

Learn your history, youngster

Doesn’t have to be a gap unless you want one. Talk to your folks – you have much to offer, and so do they.

I like slash

I would love it if Kordell didn’t already own that name. I do like it more than the Cuban Missile though

His baserunning is still a bit shaky...

but he is also hitting the cover off the ball lately. I hated him at leadoff but now it is actually working out well.

The list can't be right

I don’t see many Yankees or Red Sox. Jeter is clearly the best.

Show mercy. I get to watch the Rangers.
