We need some runs... NOW.
I doubt the Twinkies will be kind enough to throw roidless Rincon against us again.

Danks brothers switch agents
By Mark Gonzales, 2:30 p.m.http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2008/06/danks-brothers.htmlJohn and Jordan Danks have switched representatives, two sources confirmed.
The elder Danks declined to confirm before Monday’s game, but a source said over the weekend that the Danks family elected to have another family adviser represent Jordan Danks, the Sox’s seventh-round pick in last week’s amateur draft.
John and Jordan Danks were previously represented by Scott Boras. Their new representative is Jeff Berry, the agent for Mark Buehrle and Josh Fields. John switched agents around the time Jordan was drafted Friday.
The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
well, that's good news.
be sure to pass along a business card to joe crede, danks’. ;)

This is about the coolest piece of info I've seen in a long time
Sox: We hate Boras
Danks (plural): Yeah, we know.
Sox: Well isn’t there something we can do about it.
Danks (plural): I don’t know. I mean, we need an agent…
Sox: Let me introduce you to Mr. Berry.
Boras (offstage): I’ll get you next time, Williams!

I wonder if the ARod shenanigans had something to do with it
Some of the “luster” off of Boras when his star client goes around him to get a deal done?
Both feet on the bandwagon.
he really is becoming mini-MB, isn't he
cutter, pick-offs, agent. the big truck is next, i bet.

in a similar vein
In as much as Boras doesn’t seem inclined to have his young clients sign long term detail, and not that this is relevant to the game today, but I haven’t seen any discussion around the Sox signing Q! (or any of the other young guys, not to say that they’d warrant it) to a deal similar to what we’ve seen this year for talented pre-arb players (thinking Braun/Longoria/H-Ram, etc). Is there a thread floating around?
by southsideirish on Jun 9, 2008 3:09 PM CDT up reply actions
it's been discussed here before
i doubt anyone would be opposed to it ( i don’t think anyone was), though i don’t think it matters much whether the sox play a little wait and see (you know, he does have an injury history) until the offseason, or at least later on in the year.
it's time to accept that we're powerless when it comes to the white sox and turn ourselves over to a higher power: KW
it'll be interesting
I remember reading that Reinsdorf advised Frank against signing his long term deal years ago, telling him he’d end up underpaid. IIRC, it had a clause in there that would’ve guaranteed him a lot more money if he won the MVP award – which he would have except for Giambi and his PED’s.
Wondering how the current administration will handle this one.

Are you guys making these? They are really cool.

For a very casual fan
who basically only watches World/Euro Cups, how good is (are?) The Netherlands suppose to be?
they're always very good
though they have a reputation of failing – some might call it choking – during big tournaments. but they are almost always an enjoyable team to watch play.
it's time to accept that we're powerless when it comes to the white sox and turn ourselves over to a higher power: KW
i would add
they weren’t considered one of the favorites for the tournament, largely because of the group of death they’re in. but with the events of today, their odds now probably put them right behind germany and portugal.

Yeah, I've been watching this game.
I flipped to Sox for literally one second and it was Swish’s second HR. It’s been an incredible match, and I’m fully on board to root for the Dutch team from here on out.

Ah yes...
I looked them up, and I now remember seeing their game against Portugal in 2004. Good stuff, but I was paying closer attention to the side of the bracket with Greece since I was staying with a family there at the time. Quite a wild time that summer
Not a huge fan
But they usually aren’t a powerhouse or anything.
I haven’t been able to keep up with euro soccer matches. I loved watching them when I lived in London
Well well well.
This is amazing. For the first time all year, I was the guy in the office with optimism. I said Konerko would come up with a big hit later in the game when everyone was moaning about the K’s from him and Thome earlier, and he follows through, to the opposite field!
They have The Swagger they have The Passion.

AND
if Jenks retires the side in order on 3 K’s, we’re going to give Danks a 2 run credit (because of Quentin’s miscue) and that would mean quality start # 4444 in a row.
Else, the streak ends and we reset to 0.

Nice.
Heads up play, the OC play at the end sounded pretty solid as well.
We’re playing June 2006 style baseball right now, with better pitching.
OC had to turn it very quickly, and did....
while getting as much on the throw as I think is possible for him. And Swish even made a great stretch to get the throw.

it’s not too terrible in the grand scheme of things to lose 3 very close games on the road to the team with the best (or 2nd best) record in the league.
Of course, hindsight after a 7 game winning streak is a beautiful thing.

From the moment we drafted him. I had a buddy that went to UT and had him in some Gen Ed classes. Said Cedric never did his homework, seemed a “little off” and carried himself like a major asshole.
