i just looked at those games. my best guesses.
on the 8th he had a rough inning and threw 28 pitches. i assume that made him unavailable for the 9th.
on the 10th, buehrle took a shutout into the 8th and guillen went with dotel in a favorable (at least before that day) matchup with grudzialanek.
on the 11th, blowout loss.
on the 12th, danks went 7 2/3 and left with runners on. not sure why linebrink didn’t pitch this night.
on the 13th, down a bunch until the top of 9.
looks like the 12th was the only natural situation for him to pitch. obviously, he would regularly need more work than that, but perhaps with the all-star break looming and his confidence flagging a bit, ozzie decided to give him a long break.

Coop said Linebrink had a “tired arm” and that’s why they shut him down 5 days before the All-Star break. I think he also said that Linebrink was feeling better and would throw on the side today. Didn’t sound like he’d be available though.

Sportscenter
I recorded the 6AM Sporscenter this morning so that I could watch the White Sox highlights from last night. Lo and behold there was no reporting or highlights of the White Sox game. Even though they are in first place and won last night. Of course they showed highlights of the Cubs game (which they gleefully lost).
