Assuming Death Is Not An Option

Eric Zorn asks the readers of his blog (Chicago Tribune) to take this poll:

Cub fans: Would you rather the team make it to the World Series this year and lose to the White Sox, or not make the World Series at all?

Therefore my question, which I'll ask of Sox fans just to be fair: Is it better to make it to the World Series and lose to a dreaded rival, or lose in the playoffs and hope for better luck next year?

If I HAD to make this unpleasant choice....
I'm a Cub fan: I'd rather make the World Series and lose to the Sox
I'm a Cub fan: I'd rather NOT make the World Series if it meant losing to the Sox
I'm a Sox fan: I'd rather make the World Series and lose to the Cubs
I'm a Sox fan: I'd rather NOT make the World Series if it meant losing to the Cubs
I'm a fan of BOTH teams, so it's all good. :-)

Would rather NOT make it to the WS if it meant losing to Cubs.

Just better not to give them any leverage. It is so hard to shut up ignorant drunk Cubs fans.

On a personal note, one of my favorite parts about seeing the Cubbies make it to the post-season, is seeing how they will blow it on a larger, more glittery stage.
Mmmmm….2003…......ahhhhhh….............fond memories.

As long as no Chicago-related media outlet in the print, television, or radio is allowed to discuss it.

I work with far too many Cubs fans.

I’d rather we both just lose, than lose to them in a world series. In an office of 70+ employees, with at most, 4 White Sox fans.. a Cubs world series would make life unbearable for months.
