Just be thankful Lovie Smith isn’t managing the Sox. Paulie would probably be starting at first, batting third, batting again in the 9-spot, and closing.

Doesn't keep his defense on their toes enough (hence the errors). Needs to pitch faster

defense?
we all know the defense is just there as a backup plan for the sissies who can’t strike everybody out. maybe instead of pitching faster, this keith richards fella ought throw a lot harder and strike out more than a mere 14+/9.

C'mon...
Look what Buehrle did to them yesterday. The Rangers are bad against lefties, mainly because their lineup is stacked with lefties.
they're not BAD against lefties. .750 team ops vs. lefties isn't great, but surely isn't bad.

So his location will change with a righty lineup?
And that Josh Hamilton is definitely a platoon player in the making.
Fer Chrissakes.
The Butkus year - time to knock everyone on their ass.
platoon advantage is a big factor
are you trying to use stats around here? what the fuck do you think this is? - MM
Yes, the outcome will definitely change against a righty lineup...
Rangers versus righties: .288 / .358 / .466 / .824
Rangers versus lefties: .256 / .325 / .425 / .750
Here's the thing...
He got zero help from his defense in his first big league game pitching in the Cell. His K and BB numbers were great. Except for Young, he kept the ball in park. Considering it’s his first big league game, I think most people saw enough to give him a shot as a #5 starter again.

not the time or place to get too into.
bottom line is he made a huge factual error in an interview and they cut that part either because they’re bad journalists for not realizing the significance or because they cut it on purpose. they did not, however, remember to take down the full transcript off the web site.

I'd bet bad journalism. IIRC, CBS doesn't like the Right too much, even w/o Rather.

not sure if the transcript is still up on cbs. i don't mind gaffes so much, but i do mind fabrication.

Did you read the piece?
Less “conspiracy” and more “entertainment” seems to be the rationale for the edit. And of course TV and newspaper articles get edited all the time (space, time issues) and are often posted in full in another location (internet).
Simmer down. I’m no fan of CBS, but I agree with the premise that there is no conspiracy, just TV bein’ TV.
The Butkus year - time to knock everyone on their ass.
i don't think there was a conspiracy either and never said i did.
my point was more toward the bad journalism (isn’t that where this started?) by not realizing the factual error related to what he is taking credit for or for not deeming it significant enough to include.
"fortunately, i'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug, uh, regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber."

So where does the "fabrication" come in?
That sounds inflammatory, which is what skewed my impression to your thinking it was a conspiracy. “Fabrication” =/= bad journalism/editing.

but they left the question, removed the answer and used the answer to another question instead
