I love how the article equates...
Contreras coming back from the D.L. being like a big trade for the Sox.

The market is just crawling with great deals, right SSH?

That's Kenny's job...
and since the Sox have a crappy farm system - for which Kenny is definitely at least partly to blame - he doesn’t have any good prospects to trade for impact players at the deadline.

Well then don't be such a fucking jagbag about it.
It’s clear the market blows. It blows for a lot of teams. The farm system’s been shit for awhile now and Kenny has still built a pretty good team.

It's not exactly news that the farm system sucks
And I’d rather see Williams not make a move than trade Fields plus other stuff for David Weathers. So it’s hard for me to get pissed about the job Williams is doing now

Weaver: Team speed, for Chrissake, you get BLEEP god damn little fleas on the bases getting picked off trying to steal, getting thrown out, taking runs away from you. You get them big BLEEP who can hit the BLEEP ball out of the BLEEP ballpark and you can't make any god damn mistakes.

I guess the point is that the Sox should have other prospects to trade for an impact player...
other than Fields and Poreda. Although, I don’t see why Kenny wouldn’t trade Poreda.

Probably cause his value is at an all-time low?
If there’s no options on the trade market that make any sense, what’s the point in bitching about the state of our farm system?

Dude...they've very little to trade.
Poreda has pitched poorly. I doubt he has much value.
To get anything, they have to trade off the major league roster. Fields has played poorly, still has some value but you aren’t a player like Burnett or Fuentes for him…
What can they trade that has value? Ramirez, Floyd, Cabrera are candidates, but Floyd opens another hole in the rotation. Cabrera could possibly land something Lohse-like, but very possibly not. And most people don’t want to trade Alexei. So there you go.
The Sox just don’t have the goods, unless you are willing to move Ramirez.
