Edmonds nixed deal to Sox :: The SouthtownStar
Edmonds said he got a call from St. Louis management in the week after the Winter Meetings in December, asking him to waive his no-trade rights for a deal involving the Sox.
"They told me I was traded to the White Sox, and that I had an hour to OK it, and I told them I needed more than that,'' said Edmonds, who had earlier asked for a trade closer to his Southern California home after being told he didn't play a big part in the Cardinals' 2008 plans.
"I was sitting on the beach one day with my family, running around with my son, and they told me I had an hour to decide whether I wanted to play with the White Sox or not,'' Edmonds added.
It's unclear what the deal was, although the Cards were said to be interested in shortstop Juan Uribe at that time.

Edmond's talking a lot this weekend.
He’s been having a pretty hilarious back-and-forth with Tony LaRusa down in the St.L.

If there's a baseball equivalent to "never fight a land war in Asia," Vizzini might tell us "never buy the decline years of a player."

No BUO tonight; leaving for the game right now
but he’s a “crafty lefty” type, with a hittable fastball that he doesn’t throw too much. Likes to try to get the first strike with the curve and, in general, will try to break even counts with it. But it’s not often used even still. It’s not a pitch he’s comfortable throwing a lot. To lefties he’s pretty much strictly fastball-slider and he mixes them pretty evenly. Both are tough pitches on lefties, so hopefully toby makes an appearance today.
are you trying to use stats around here? what the fuck do you think this is? - MM

Glad he passed, if in fact it went down that way.

Yeah, it probably would mean no Swisher right about now...
Although I would take Edmonds in a heartbeat over Uribe right about now, if that was the trade.
