Ozzie Guillen on Pablo Ozuna's DFA
"If some players didn't like the move, well it's easy to do," Guillen said before the game. "Just tell Ozuna to stay here and [they can] go to the minor leagues [in his place]."

Quick, legit question:
I know most real Sox fans would rather have seen Uribe traded or DFA’d, but reality is reality. But now that Pablo’s under the bus wheels…

Albert Belle checks in
Hot-tempered Albert Belle, the former Tribe slugger, called to voice his displeasure with the CC Sabathia trade to Milwaukee.http://blog.cleveland.com/sports/2008/07/voice_from_the_past_albert_bel.html“Imagine that, the Cleveland Indians trade away another great player because they didn’t want to pay him,” said Belle from his home in Arizona. “The saga continues.”
Belle left the Indians after the 1996 season and signed a five-year, $55 million contract with the White Sox. At the time it was the biggest deal in baseball.
“When is Larry Dolan going to sell the club?” said Belle. “I could buy a piece of it. There are a lot of people on teams making a lot of bad decisions. You don’t always have to spend a lot of money. Look at what Billy Beane does in Oakland.”
Asked if he wanted to get back into the game, Belle said, “I want to be an owner. The Mariners called me and wanted me to come to spring training as a roving hitting coach. But they were going to pay me peanuts.”
Belle, married with three daughters, spends most of his time golfing.
“I’m a golf pro,” said Belle, with a laugh. “At least in my mind I am.”
Belle said he tried to buy pieces of the Cavs and Dodgers without success.
Told the Indians have no power with the exception of Grady Sizemore, Belle said, “They got rid of three of us, Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez and me.”
The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.

On June 6, former Golden Panther senior third baseman Jorge Castillo was selected in the 26th Round (780th overall) by the Chicago White Sox and was the 97th Golden Panther overall to be drafted.http://www.beaconnewspaper.com/articles/3871

Q: How do you feel about the fact that even though you were drafted, you didn’t graduate with a degree from FIU?A: Oh, I don’t care. Baseball was always my dream and school will always be there. I need only 20 more credits, and I could still get my degree in the fall if things don’t work out. I’m actually taking an online class right now too.

Rotoworld agrees with Larry...
White Sox purchased the contract of RHP D.J. Carrasco from Triple-A Charlotte.
Carrasco spent three seasons with the Royals, but hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2005. He had a 2.38 ERA and 23/7 K/BB ratio in 22 2/3 innings at Triple-A. At best he’ll be a servicable middle reliever.

But what are you / they doing about it?
I don’t want to get too off topic, but the governments of the world aren’t going to move as quickly to cut down on energy consumption / pollution and improve public health / environmental as quickly as individuals.
We all need to quit wasting so much. It takes electricity to pump water, which people love to waste, and that means more coal is burned. People constantly leave lights on, thinking that because they’ve switched to CFLs, it’s okay. Everyone needs to do more, but hardly anyone is willing to do anything if they feel inconvenienced.
If you want some ideas, grist.org has plenty of suggestions, such as putting appliances with LCDs (such as your microwave) on a power strip, turning off the water when you soap up in the shower, using a smart strip for your TV and computer, etc etc.
I’d be willing to continue this discussion via email if you’d like. But I don’t want to burden this site with too much OT stuff.
