at least he can hit in BP
First-round pick Gordon Beckham agreed to terms today and worked out with the team before the game, taking BP and then speaking to the media.
His last round of BP included two line-drive homers to left field.

wow I'm really glad to see they think he can skip rookie ball
gives him a chance to start next year in AA maybe? or is that way too optimistic?
nothing gets ‘em wetter than infrequent postings on the city’s second favorite team
Good question...
I’d guess - so long as he handles himself relatively well in Kanny for the next month - he’ll start next year with Winston Salem. Then again, with Fields, they didn’t hesitate to push him to Birmingham to start his first full pro-season, and I think Beckham’s pedigree might be a tad higher than Fields’ was (although I could be wrong), so…
i guess it's all true: official press release
