I predict...
1. The Sox go into Boston and take two games next weekend. Vazquez vs Beckett, Buehrle vs Matsuzaka.
2. The Sox will go into New York and end all Yankee hope for the post-season.
3. I will drive to Minnesota and blow off a few days of work to watch the Sox take the Central.
4. ESPN collapses upon itself leaving a giant crater in Bristol when the Red Sox and Yankees both fail to make the play-offs.
5. There will be at least two comments hammering me for my optimism.

I don't want to squish your optimism
but ESPN has essentially led off sportscenter with the Sox the last two nights

Yes. Yes I did.
Speaking of which, we should probably get another music thread up — I never got to posting my one day at Lollapalooza thoughts. Plus there’s some new stuff I’m getting into that may or may not jive with some other posters’ musical preferences.

If I find time I'll have one up soon enough. As of now, though, no internet in my apartment, so online access has been limited...
and boy is it grating. Almost into the fucking fourth month of the lease and still nuthin’.

unacceptable. you need to introduce your landlord to the wrong side of a lead pipe.*
*regardless of what any code or set of model rules says, the above does not constitute legal advice. or at least not quality legal advice.

Why did you have to post the "quality legal advice" disclaimer?
Duh.

lollapalooza was friggin expensive
too much for me to go out there and bake myself all day, likely in more ways than one.
dang nabbit internet pirates stealing the tunes, forcing live shows cost through the dang dab gone it roof.

That's why I only went one day
although next year I’m definitely going to set aside enough cash to go all three days.
And I’ll just say my experience was similar to your comment about baking (from the sun… and otherwise //winkwinknudgenudge). One friend who I was with got exhausted from the sun so much that he was dripping sweat. His face looked like the outside of a can of pop if you take it out of the ‘fridge and leave it in a warm spot for several minutes — he had that much condensation on his face and arms, it was crazy. Suffice it to say my other friend and I weren’t too happy that we had to leave the Black Keys (and, consequently, lose our phenomenal seats for The Racontuers), although we’ve forgiven him and since then it’s become a funny story.

sounds like a dream scenerio to me
But you know how it goes, if it is too good to be true, then it probably is… ESPN is trying to hold on to Yankees talk, they just cannot let it go. As far as I am concerned they were done in the beginning of August…
More likely our nightmare scenario will come true and we will lose the division against Twins at Metrodome.
