or want to talk about how fausto carmona owns the sox?

Okay, game related...
Yeah, Cliff Lee is a stud but twenty in a row retired? 2 hits? Pretty bad. The Sox offense is giving pitchers their greatest outings ever.
"god, you’re fucking stupid."

20 in a row retired
is that really unheard of?? against an ace pitcher??
by onlysoxfaninboston on Sep 1, 2008 8:11 PM CDT up reply actions
ah, firestarter.
it’s nice to see the 2008 knights in action. look sort of like the 2007 knights, though.
I guess he really was pitching well recently down at AAA.
95 MPH heater and actually throwing strikes.

what did we call macdougal, kerosene? i forget...
by onlysoxfaninboston on Sep 1, 2008 8:08 PM CDT reply actions
macdougal looked unbelievable for half of his pitches that inning.
how much quieter was that delivery? how nice would it be for him to pitch with his head out of his ass for the rest of the season?
You're on thin fucking ice my pedigree chums, and I shall be under it when it breaks. Now, fuck off.
it looked different. and was effective.
whether it’s “good” will require a few more than seven pitches.
those pitches in which he kept his head more still/upright were really nice.
but he also threw a couple where he was sloppy.
You're on thin fucking ice my pedigree chums, and I shall be under it when it breaks. Now, fuck off.
agree
anyone not named chuck knoblauch or clayton richard makes that throw to first

Fuck this game.
Save the pen for the Angels series.
Pitching, defense and health.
They ARE saving the pen...
Adam Rusell sucks… bad. Guy doesn’t deserve a nickname.
"god, you’re fucking stupid."
-- Larry
I guess I don't think an unnotable player should get a notable nickname.
"god, you’re fucking stupid."

Sorry, I guess I just don't think Russell's supposed nickname is very funny...
Nessie? Yeah, hilarious.

A quick wit is necessary for these here parts.

I seem to recall a certain nickname of "Jizzcan" for about the most unnotable player on the '05 roster
AIM: SouthSideCheat
That name will live in infamy...
I see people still use it all the time.
"god, you’re fucking stupid."

So a minute ago
you were against giving nicknames to “unnotable players”… then when confronted with the fact that you’ve given 3rd-rate, 4th grade nicknames to past unnotable players, you ooze with pride because it has—according to you—gained traction with some faction of fans (presumably 13 year olds). Do I have this right?
AIM: SouthSideCheat
Luis Vizcaino has been with quite a few teams in the majors and has pitched a lot of innings...
Adam Russell is AAA fodder. There is a difference.
The nickname “Nessie” will be long forgotten because he will have a long career in the minors.
"god, you’re fucking stupid."
-- Larry
Through age 25
Vizcaino had pitched just over 20 major league innings and had an ERA over 7.
Russell has an ERA of about 5 in 24 major league innings.
AIM: SouthSideCheat
Or when we'll really need 'em.
Against the Twins.
Pitching, defense and health.
lol.
ozzie now has, like, a 19 man pitching staff to work with. and an off day. i’m thinking he can send the recent callups out there and not worry, no?
Yep, Richard started and then...
Wassermann
Logan
MacDougal
Russell
Don’t see anything wrong with that. Not one “primary” bullpen guy was used.

Slam.
And they’re up by a snowman.
Pitching, defense and health.
And it just makes you so happy to be right.

Not at all...
As bad as the Twins are supposed to be, the Sox record is now no better than theirs.
"god, you’re fucking stupid."
-- Larry
uh, the same twins
the sox were supposed to be battling for 3rd? sounds right on par to me… except tied for first which i prefer

"As bad as the Twins are supposed to be."
???????
Pitching, defense and health.
Many posters here thought that the Twins were supposed to fall apart...
They were using stats and such.
"god, you’re fucking stupid."
-- Larry
that was before they won the world series tho
its a different context now
brndnprkns: I'm pretty sure the "badass" value of your life is closer to Gigli than The Dark Knight
Dude...
So you say:
People use stats to say something is likely to happen.
Thing does not happen.
Your conclusion: people were idiots and stats suck
Probability is complicated, but even I grasp the fact that conclusion doesn’t follow.

Why dont you go to Twinkie Town and talk shit about the Sox there.

We're still trying to work out a trade for a poster to be named later
Backup plan if the ignore button falls through.
White Sox, that’s baseball.

You are an absolute fucking god.
Pitching, defense and health.
You were the only one who knew the Sox are a bucket of suck -- nice job. Great season (on your part).
If only you would use your powers for good…..

I have no control over how the Sox perform. No one does...
except for stanchar of course, haha.
"god, you’re fucking stupid."

Why is telling the truth considered whining?
The Sox ARE playing like crap.
Is getting mad at someone for saying that the Sox are playing like crap also being a homer then?
"god, you’re fucking stupid."
-- Larry
i don't think we get mad at you for saying the sox are playing like crap. we get mad at you for posting the same thing 252 times. your repetition is what is annoying.
and the absolutism.

His 252 posts also prevent serious discussion of Sox losses
Because he vomits out so much crap during the losses, its impossible to have a serious discussion about a Sox loss or the Sox’ poor play in a game – it either gets lost in the SSH chaff or he’ll pick up on whatever point you are trying to make and post 300 times about it.
White Sox, that’s baseball.

Why so serious?

After getting shut out twice within a week
Is it the Sox showing a lack of adjustment at the plate, cold streak, or were dice-k and lee actually that good? I would say if it happened once, it would probably be the pitcher just dominating, but now a second time in a week, I think they probably have to change their approaches at the plate.
dude's in hurricane alley. cut him some slack.

I get that but....
they made it look so easy that I half expect every pitcher to mow through their lineup.
by El Duque's Raft on Sep 1, 2008 9:20 PM CDT up reply actions
you need to adjust your expectations then. the white sox are one of the top scoring teams in the majors.
"as long as there's, you know, sex and drugs, i can do without the rock and roll."
by Toonderstrook on Sep 1, 2008 9:21 PM CDT up reply actions
I know where their numbers stand
but it seems like the arrow is trending downward. That can all certainly change tomorrow and I hope it does. I was more curious as to if Lee and Dice-K’s performance were a coincidence or is their lineup that weak right now. That’s what I was getting at, small sample size and all.
by El Duque's Raft on Sep 1, 2008 9:28 PM CDT up reply actions
trending downward just like 8 days ago trending way up?
last 7 days = .709 ops
last 14 days = .872 ops
last 28 days = .846 ops
struggling a bit over the last week, but that includes dice-k and lee.
"as long as there's, you know, sex and drugs, i can do without the rock and roll."
by Toonderstrook on Sep 1, 2008 9:32 PM CDT up reply actions
Right so just coincidence then?
That’s fine, I hope it evens back out. I’m just more nervous of the bats going into hibernation for the final month. But if there was a silver lining in getting shut down tonight, they didn’t use any of their important pitchers and McDougal actually resembled a major league pitcher(fully aware of the tiny sample size and no pressure situation)
by El Duque's Raft on Sep 1, 2008 9:38 PM CDT up reply actions
The Sox offense
The offense is the 5th highest scoring in the AL. 8th in OBP and 2nd in slugging. So, if they aren’t hitting HRs, they’ll probably look bad. But they aren’t bad. Across the year team offense is surprisingly variable (see: DET) and it wouldn’t be shocking to see a tailspin. But I don’t think that opposing pitchers have discovered a fundamental flaw in the Sox offense, so I don’t think changing approach is a solution.
