I laughed

But it’s kind of sad that a lot of people think Newman’s that banal because of it. He’s an incredible songwriter/lyricist.

I find most artists (writers, musicians, painters)

have more interesting and edgy work early in their careers. Do you feel that way about your writing? (I do about anything I’ve done 20 years ago – seems fresher. Tough to keep reinventing the wheel and keeping the passion. Thank God for a 5-year old who keeps me moving and sharp.)

edgy because there's no one putting the brakes on...

studios, networks, publishers. Edgy gets u in the door, but one gets co-opted because of success and money. The saving grace is that you get become a better craftsman. I look at my TV stuff that I did 20 years ago and go ‘wow’ how did I get away w/ that?. Now? Not so much.-

by whitesoxmatt on Sep 18, 2008 5:37 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

That's fine with me...

The Yankees aren’t that great of a team but the Sox are horrible on the road so a split would actually be good. Plus, the Twins could easily lose facing the Rays and Shields on the road tonight.

by SSH2005 on Sep 18, 2008 5:39 PM CDT to parent up   0 recs

You give the Rays and Shields that much credit, eh?

Guess it takes a .700+ Rays home record to get SSH to cop to the possibility of a win against the Mighty Mighty Twinkerbells, losers of 3 in a row to Cleveland (on the road).

A guy has to have his standards.

I have anticipated this Twins @ Rays series for awhile...

I expect the Twins to lose two or three of the four games but it won’t mean much if the Sox don’t win.

Damon out...
Johnny Damon has left the Yankees to be with his wife, who gave birth on Thursday.
Brett Gardner is getting the start in center field tonight.

I guess this should be good news but the Sox haven’t been able to get Gardner out either.

‘’I come to the ballpark every day, look [at the lineup], I see ’Uribe,’ I say, ‘OK,’‘’ he said. ’’I’ve been working hard with Walk. I’m trying to stay in the middle. I work with my hitting coach and say, ‘Thank you, hitting coach.’’’

Uribe whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you."

5 now for the rays

on 5 hits and 36 pitches for perkins.
their bullpen is in big trouble.

The AL East

is so much better than the Central it is scary. The Rays’ performance is even more impressive considering the strength of their schedule.

by Bull Pain on Sep 18, 2008 6:45 PM CDT   0 recs

I think Selig should announce the AL East winner gets an automatic bye in the 1st round....

and the “supposed” race between the Twins and White Sox is no longer a race—both teams are automatically eliminated from the post-season.
