The Deception That Is Alexei...(and a suggestion for HoRam's future usage)

Well, tonight turned out just fine after all.

It seems like this is a trend of these here Sox – win us over with swept double-headers (on a Sunday nonetheless!) when we most fear for their fatiguability (yes, that is now a word), and then spin us on our emotions, until we are foaming from the mouths.  Typical South Side Hope Syndrome.

And then throughout the week, they kept it sorta interesting before totally pissing us off against the Yankees, at a very magical time in the historical stadium’s lifespan.  It was only right.  Maybe Ozzie pitched Horacio because he was throwing the game for the sake of good baseball history?  And the baseball gods’ pay-off to Ozzie came in the form of the Twins losing, mostly in conjunction with our own losses, so as not to become too, too painful in spite of the horror of Horram?  Maybe this has all been programmed in the matrix all along!!

I’ve decided upon a plan for our sad sack of reliever.  I intend to include it in Ozzie’s email re: Horacio Ramirez; who I now call Dyson, by the way, because he’s got that enduringly un-cloggable cyclonic sucking technology (Uribe can maintain Hoover, totally different)…anyway, it goes a little something like this:

 "Dear Ozzie,

Thanks for pitching Thorny, and even giving Linebrink a toss.

Oh, I almost forgot, please let’s not use Horacio Ramirez, #49, again until Game 5 of the World Series that we sweep.

Plz.

K.

Thx.

Bai.

Until we speak again,

woot.

Please do not confuse this with jinxing here, I am no Option, that smarmy bastard :)…while part of the fun of baseball is expecting the unexpected, I do not pretend that we are playing in a manner that gives me great post-season confidence if we are to scratch our way into the play-offs (which we may not even need to do (scratch), depending on this weekend’s outcome, and next week’s highly-anticipated Twinkiedome series).  There are just better, more solid teams out there.  Not to say we can’t compete when we are at 100%.  But we haven’t been 100% in a while…so as I’ve said, I am perfectly content just winning the division.

But what we got really ain’t bad!  Look at the splendor of our sweet little Alexei Ramirez, who has stepped up to magiQal proportions.  I made him a sign, that little base-runner from hell.

And then there’s the other wee man, Dewayne, whose first name is actually Larry, in case that has not before been mentioned (HA!).  First a grand slam, then a couple more tonight.  He’s fitting himself right into this line-up.

Can’t expect much more from Brian Anderson at this point. Paulie stepped right back into his abandoned heat upon speedily returning from injury, and even Thome’s polite mashed taters come with a little punch in the nuts, as we saw tonight.

Anyway, I just wanted to say a couple words to have an excuse to post my new picture and reflect a bit on a very exciting time of the year.  Every game and every day is a new adventure – finishing the Sox games and flipping on the Twins’ to root for their opponents…it’s fun as hell…nail-bitin’ and heart-pumpin’…I love it! No matter what the outcome! It’s the last week of baseball and we are competing again!

Enjoy the last of it, everyone!  April is a long, cold way away…

At first, I thought he would be a good person to sacrifice to the baseball gods.

But then I thought that we might insult him with such a sacrifice.
He ain’t no white bull or nothin’.
