This is what it all comes down to.
Throw all the fuckin’ sabermetrics out the window. This is a psychological test for the Sox, plain and simple. They’ve got to pass the Minnesota test. I disagree.
At the time of the trade everybody was talking about Junior replacing Konerko’s ABs, not Swisher’s. It’s only since the latter has deteriorated and the former has heated up that Swisher’s been riding the pine.

I'm talking about offense.
Since that’s what Bull Pain was talking about. When Griffey came in, Konerko was still hovering around the Mendoza line and Swisher had been performing decently . Griffey’s ass belongs on the bench, sure, but at the time the consensus was that Griffey’s bat would be more productive against RHP’s than Konerko’s.
