Nice collage.

Pick to Click: GRIFFEY

I’ve never heard so much bitching about a guy in the line-up for one game! Comparing him to Geoff Blum makes me want to stab my eyes out so I’ll never be tempted to look at the internet again.

The Twins are not good, please stop posting their score.

This is what it all comes down to.

Throw all the fuckin’ sabermetrics out the window. This is a psychological test for the Sox, plain and simple. They’ve got to pass the Minnesota test. I do think they appear to be handling the pre-game stuff better, and, although not admitting it is a psychological test, coming up just short of it is progress.

Twins fans stupid

Why chant MVP for Morneau? Mauer is so much better. Oh yeah, the RBI stat.

Does anyone else have that feeling?

That Baker is about to go on one of those streaks where he retires about 12 to 15 straight batters?

Hopefully the battle for 4th is motivation for them to get it going against Minn.

Go Sox!

by luzinski on Sep 23, 2008 8:18 PM CDT reply actions

The important thing

is that Griffey and Dye have made up for their zero range with stellar offense down the stretch.

AMAZING

This is exactly how I hoped we wouldn’t lose

by Option27 on Sep 23, 2008 8:20 PM CDT reply actions

So this is the part where SSH it...

Appear from nowhere and post something like “Ozzie playing Griffey in CF in the dome is one his stupidest moves of the season”

For goodness sake, Anderson is at least as good a hitter as Griffey right now, so nothing is even gained at the plate.

man

This one's over

That was a pretty great bunt though

by Bull Pain on Sep 23, 2008 8:21 PM CDT reply actions

This is positively delightful.

I don’t even know whom to blame. These last two runs were on the defense, but then it was Javy who couldn’t figure out where to run on a bunt to the right side.

I would say I hope Punto injures himself on one of these slides,

but I’m pretty sure his replacement would be better, whoever it is.

by ballyb on Sep 23, 2008 8:22 PM CDT reply actions

Actually, I blame

Swisher. If he hadn’t been such a steaming pile this year he’d be out there every day and Griffey would be on the bench where he belongs. Of course, steaming pile Swisher is still better on both sides of the ball than Griffey.

by Bull Pain on Sep 23, 2008 8:23 PM CDT reply actions

I disagree.

At the time of the trade everybody was talking about Junior replacing Konerko’s ABs, not Swisher’s. It’s only since the latter has deteriorated and the former has heated up that Swisher’s been riding the pine.

That's not true

A lot people said that if the plan was to play KGJr in CF that it was a stupid move.

Yea - KWs sales pitch was insurance for Thome and PK

However – Oz appears to be in love with playing the HOF’r

What's the sound made when you miss the ball for another strikeout... SWISH!

by Brush Back on Sep 23, 2008 8:28 PM CDT up reply actions

I'm talking about offense.

Since that’s what Bull Pain was talking about. When Griffey came in, Konerko was still hovering around the Mendoza line and Swisher had been performing decently . Griffey’s ass belongs on the bench, sure, but at the time the consensus was that Griffey’s bat would be more productive against RHP’s than Konerko’s.

serious question

how many triples have been hit to griffey?

by shaftr on Sep 23, 2008 8:24 PM CDT reply actions

just how many triples

have been hit to center field?

Regardless of any subjective view.

how many singles has Griffey courteously turned into triples?

it wasn’t even a single with a real CF.

I hate to be captain obvious but the Twins pen is worse then ours (well maybe not lately) but what the fuck does it matter when we give up these big leads

More than the nibbling against Morneau, or the hanging changeup to Kubel, it’s the 8-pitch at bats by Carlos Fucking Gomez with his .250 OBP.

Time for Mr. Positive.

1 – Javy is the least reliable of our starters, so we can still easily take two out of three with Buehrle and Floyd.

2 – Last time we were here we blew two four-run leads in two games, so I say we return the favor.

Baker is also the best of the Twins starters this series.

I wasn’t counting on this one. This series is on Buehrle’s shoulders more than anybody, based on favorable matchups.

The way I see it

Even if Buehrle falters, Floyd apparently fancies himself The Stopper, so we can at least avert a sweep with him.

a) He’s not Hawk.
b) He’s not DJ.
c) I really hated him until I found the Youtube clip of him dropping F-bombs on the air. That might be the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.
