Sox Fifth Starter Hell/Short Rest
I noticed during last night's game thread, there was a considerable amount of argument over the decision to bring back Vazquez on short rest again. I'm not really sure there's a right or wrong answer to this debate.
Certainly after last night's circus, second guessers would say they should've gone with Richard or Broadway. It just goes to show how difficult of a situation the coaching staff has been in since the injury to Contreras. If they rolled the dice on the two headed monster and crapped out, they would've caught hell for not bringing Javy back on short rest and resting their postseason hopes on a couple of rookies. Coincidentally, they rolled the dice on bringing Javy back on short rest and crapped out anyways. They were really in a no win situation. As a personal opinion, I would rather they pitch the player they have the most confidence in. Unfortunately, I don't think their confidence level was very high on either of those selections.
So now, the Sox have to use Buehrle on short rest against a team that has historically clobbered him. Now if the Sox can somehow squeak out a win today and KC sweeps, I would prefer they go with the two headed monster against DET and take a chance. That way, even if they lose, they'll have Floyd on full rest against Minnesota in a playoff. Now if they both win or lose, they'll again have no choice but to bring back Floyd on short rest.

i was against the short rest for javy in NYC
they could have started Richard on monday, then yesterday is his first go on short rest, and hes not as taxed.
Plus going on short rest against the team that just saw you 4 days earlier in their ballpark is just retarded.

There's nothing coherent about this comment
Javy HAD to go on short rest in NY — Thanks to the DH it the only short rest start for which the Sox had no choice…
