Quentin injury worse than originally thought - out until Monday at best

That's the White Sox's theme for the remaining 23 games this season after a patchwork lineup and the pitching of Javier Vazquez and Bobby Jenks produced a 4-2 victory over the Indians on Wednesday and kept them in first place in the American League Central.
The Sox's task becomes even tougher with the strong possibility that slugger Carlos Quentin probably won't be available until at least next week's Toronto series—and maybe much longer.
"That's our hope," manager Ozzie Guillen said of a return Monday by Quentin, who has 36 homers but has been hampered by a sore right forearm near his wrist.

but let’s be honest, i think many of the sss faithful knows that this team lacks depth (except at 2B) and a major injury should increase the likelihood of the sox losing the division.

I think this just gives the Sox a chance to get speed into the lineup, something they’ve been missing all year and clearly the ingredient that they are missing in their attempts to put some distance between themselves and the Twinkies in the standings.
Frankly, I think they should have benched Quentin long ago. He hits way too many homeruns and not nearly enough singles. Homeruns may get chicks, but what we really need is a speedy outfielder that strikes out all the time.

This is awful news but the Griffey acquisition looks better when this kind of stuff happens. Of course, it only looks better if Griffey isn’t in CF to give up more runs than he knocks in.

Outfielders Carlos Quentin (right forearm) and Ken Griffey Jr. (back) remained on the shelf Wednesday, but Guillen received good enough reports on both that he felt they could be back for the series opener against the Los Angeles Angels on Friday.
As for Crede, Guillen said it will be up to him to say when he’s ready to return to the lineup, and until then, the job belongs to Juan Uribe.

is going to be injured alot of his career IMO. With his violent swing, propensity to get hit by pitches and his agressive baserunning and fielding, he will be sore and injured alot of the time.
Because he will never adjust that style, right?
Most players and people act the same at 36 as they do at 26. Sure.

“Quentin could be back in lineup against Angels”
After further testing Thursday afternoon, early results on the MVP right forearm and wrist of White Sox left fielder Carlos Quentin were ‘‘good so far,’’ a team source said.
That doesn’t mean, however, that the Sox were ready to breathe a deep sigh of relief just yet as they await further opinion, expected by Friday afternoon.
Quentin, who leads the American League with 36 home runs and has been the Sox’ most consistent offensive player all season, was a late scratch before Monday’s game in Cleveland after the injury flared up during batting practice. He was plunked on the forearm area a few weeks ago and hasn’t been able to shake the pain associated with it since.
If the Sox get the thumbs up Friday morning, Quentin could be back in the lineup for the start of the Angels series.
