The Adventures of Don Guillote - In Which Uribe Picks Up Some Slaq
This day was not easy. But this day will be remembered.
There were tears. Emotions ran wild; like feral schizophrenic horses that haven't been killed and beaten yet (in that order).
The excitement of a big weekend series dulled, under the cloudy news of our beloved Q! - currently en route to surgery after being attacked by His magic bat.
Some may call Him moronic for acting in a foolishly passionate manner that led to a freakish injury. Some may fight feelings of anger and resentment. Some may even question His immortality. Whereas others might end up at Rush University Medical Center Center first thing Monday morning, with sponges and gentle-formula no-tears shampoo for when He awakens from the operation and needs some tender loving hair care.
If I wasn't so far away, I would be there too, mates.
MM, so kindly detour from the Rush Med Ctr in your quest to burn down the city, while you simultaneously electioneer (hey, since you're passing through the neighborhoods, you may as well hand out some MM/Furbs buttons...just make sure they are flame-retardant buttons...you'll be spun careless and irrational among the pundits, and Furbs will have to get you out of another pickle).
Anyway, here are the latest two of Don Guillote. I was checking in tonight and saw the Crede/Angels one, and as soon as I had loaded it into my photobucket, I refreshed the page and there was a brand new one up, celebrating the domination of our Fatty Boombatty.
Q selflessly passed the torch to the other Good Guys tonight. Notably Uribe and his two long balls. Even Paulie looked like a captain out there with his extra-base hitting. Thome out-ran a play at 1st. And Che, oh Che, you little rebel, you. Lest I forget General Soreness who showed us what a HOF single looks like. Dewayne took one in the nuts in his first at-bat back from the DL - which I'm pretty sure he did to cheer up Q, and the rest of us. ohhh, Dewayne, you didn't have to do that. But thank you anyway. That was just about as funny as the cluster-eff of the infield fly ball that happened just before.
So all in all, a pleasing ending to a day that began ugly, and turned out seemingly tragic. Let's hope the offense continues to ignite in Q!'s absence. We definitely needed a laugher against the Angels to keep our spirits in check. This season is not over. The Twins still suck (forgive me, Punto). And this division is still ours for the taking. As sad as our loss of Q! may be, and believe me, I am wearing black...His exclamation lives on in the rest of the team.
As I said earlier today, these circumstances are like a tragic comedy. Five months of nervously waiting for Q! to get injured at the hands of an inside pitch...and He ends up with a self-inflicted injury with but 3 weeks of the regular season left to play.
We'll all laugh about this someday....
Until then, we've got Skanberg.

Nice writing.
You sound almost like a Bat-Girl, which is high praise indeed. It also reminded me that you are published (your introduction to us was through your Dad forwarding your Sox article in the Seattle paper). Perhaps Cheat has room for a West-Coast correspondent?
Good job. Thanks.

Why thank you, Uncle WU.
It was actually a Chicago paper(ish)…I started writing for them in 2006, before I moved away from Chicago and continued to when I got here. But not a bad memory for an opos, nonetheless.

Very well done HSA.
I wish I had seen that game, and Saturdays as well.
