Music Thread is Back
It's been awhile since there's been a music thread so I figured we're due for one. Especially with the Animal Collective CD to be released Tuesday. It was leaked online and I've had the vinyl copy for some time and I'm without doubt that it's definately top 5 of the year. Personally I give the CD a 9 but Pitchfork gave it a very rare 9.6.
Is there anything else good released?
New Bon Iver EP, Fleet Foxes to play SNL. What Else???

The dreaded leadoff walk.
I would rather douse a newspaper in gasoline, wrap it around my penis and light it on fire then relive that experience

The new AC is pretty great
I heard 3/4 of it on a recent train trip and it was exactly where I was hoping they’d go.
Sober, I was appalled at the women. Drunk I was told I danced with them all.

Speaking of AC
Listening on Rhapsody to A.C. Newman’s new album, and it isn’t hooking me. First half of the album is a drag, but Submarines of Stockholm is a pretty good song, and there’s some stronger stuff from that point on.
We’ll see if it grows on me.

the first half of the album is kind of weird
those choppy chords and the only melody is the voice. but i listened to it a couple times through and found myself better able to hear it. listen to the one about thunderbolts with the volume up. it’s got a great rumble to it.

TVotR growing more and more on me. I think I'd like to see them live, though. Would they be a candidate to perform at Lollapalooza or Bonnaroo?
Other stuff:
-Kings of Leon – just a couple of songs off of Only By The Night. I’m not a huge fan but they’re okay.
-Velvet Underground – I like several songs off of Loaded, good ‘older’ stuff.
-Nas – not his new album but The Ni**** Tape, which in my mind is much better than regular album. I got it for $2 at a record shop up here (Atomic Records, in case anyone cares) so I wasn’t going to pass that up.
It’s kind of a lull right now… I’ll probably give AC a listen although last time I heard a bit of them they seemed too ‘out there’ for me (that doesn’t necessarily mean bad, just not my cup of tea). I’ll give ‘em another shot, though. Otherwise I’m eagerly awaiting any and all news regarding The Strokes putting out a new disk and the lineups for the summer shows above.
