White Sox to throw party for Obama
The White Sox will celebrate the inauguration of their No. 1 fan on Tuesday with a private viewing party at U.S. Cellular Field.
Barack Obama, who has been informally invited to throw out the first pitch at The Cell's opening day on April 6, is a South Sider who frequently dons a well-worn Sox cap.
All guests will be required to wear Sox caps to the event, which is not open to the public. Those invited include Sox front office staff and children from schools near the ballpark. A congratulatory sign will be displayed along the Dan Ryan Expressway at 35th Street. And the Sox also will send mascot Southpaw to ride on the Illinois float in the Inauguration Parade.

who issues press releases about private parties?
most businesses in the city – perhaps in the country, i don’t know – with a large number of employees is going to have a viewing party of the inauguration of one kind or another. i’m glad the white sox let us all know about the one they’re having that we’re all not going to.

The White Sox evidently
Relax dude. You don’t have to read it if you don’t want to. Hell you can go create two fanposts bitching about other people’s fanposts.
Its the off-season, Obama is about to be inaugurated, he is a White Sox fan, its more relevant then your mock fanposts. Your not always going to be able to get your way.

seems like my mock fanposts got more comments than you'res.

I wish I worked somewhere else.
The people here are still mourning the McCain loss, there’s no way I’d get the inauguration on our TV.

For most people yes
But with the location of my office, kind of outside of a town it’s not as easy as you’d think to fit into a lunch. It was much ado about nothing though, as I am an idiot, and forgot about DVR, I’ll just catch it at night.

I’m sure it’s streaming somewhere, even ESPN is showing it.

Watch the inauguration on MLB.com
It’s time for some Inaugural ball.
MLB.com — the same place that soon will be showing live World Baseball Classic, Spring Training and Major League Baseball regular-season games — will offer a live stream Tuesday of Barack Obama’s Presidential Inauguration. It will be free for everyone who can’t be part of the scene in Washington, and especially useful for those who are at work, but don’t want to miss the swearing-in ceremony.
The MLB.com Inauguration Special begins at 9 a.m. ET with streams of six past Presidential Inaugurations, including John F. Kennedy (1961), Lyndon B. Johnson (1965), Jimmy Carter (1977), Ronald Reagan (1981), George H. W. Bush (1989) and Bill Clinton (1993), each of whom has participated in the time-honored tradition of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at a Major League game. It continues with a live “pregame show,” hosted by Vinny Micucci and Hal Bodley, at 11 a.m. We’ll join the swearing-in ceremony on the steps of the U.S. Capitol at 11:30.

minoso keeps his eyes on the ball
Also in attendance Tuesday was Chicago’s first African-American baseball player, Minnie Minoso. Nicknamed "Mr. White Sox," Minoso, 80, now works for the public relations department of his favorite team. As he watched the inauguration ceremony, he said he was happy for the team and the country.
"It’s nice we can say, ‘We have a president, he is a White Sock,’" Minoso said. "But we still have to win the game on the field, not in the White House."

south side in the house!
11:40 a.m. — A section of the crowd behind me begins to mock the soon-to-be ex-president Bush, singing "Nah, nah, nah, nah, hey, hey, goodbye." It’s likely a contingency of South Side Chicagoans. That’s the chant the White Sox fans have used for years to heckle opposing teams.
