Guess Jenks Arb Figures
Tuesday is the deadline to exchange arbitration figures*, and since I'm running back out the door and we could use some new discussion material I thought this might drum up some replies.
* In arbitration teams and players exchange salary numbers, and if they're unable to come to a compromise an arbiter picks one of the figures. Hearings start on Groundhog Day.

What would happen if the Sox offered the minimum wage and Jenks asked for $15million?
number one when it mattered!
reinsdorfs nose would double in size
larry has that system down to a science. Especially with the way the economy is….big wigs like larry coming in dressed in their mink coats and 24k gold cigarrete holders with pockets lined with coke make for a large draw during shift changes.

the white sox would go to arbitration
and say bobby jenks is not mariano rivera. then they would sit down. and the arbitrator would award him the minimum salary.
Jerry [Owens] is considered to be a leadoff hitter.
Fangraphs had him worth $7.5 million last year
so accounting for the state of the economy, around $5 million would be a fair wage non?
number one when it mattered!
this ain't Nessie's arb, yo
Sober, I was appalled at the women. Drunk I was told I danced with them all.
The Sox should offer $15,000 per pound...sounds about right

i have no frame of reference
but let’s say 6 mil.

White Sox: $5,000,000; Jenks: $6,500,000
But, they settle in the middle.
1 year 5.6 million
according to the Score
This is what I love about White Sox fans... You guys have so much fun venom!

Not the amount.
That it was “high.” It’s not like the White Sox are known for “overpaying” guys.
Ah!
Seeing Cheat’s info below makes me think it’s kind of high but not terribly.

and that's a record for a 1st year eligible reliever
Gagne had the record (I believe) at 5M
gagne went 5/8/10 in his arb years, and Jenks closest comp (K-rod) went 3.75/7/10 in his arb years…
Looks like next year he might be approaching 10M, which means time to get rid of him
