The word from ESPN is that the South Siders are likely to put Jermaine Dye(notes), Bobby Jenks(notes), and Octavio Dotel(notes) up on the trading block.

Huh - isn't Jenks the only one they really have control over
I thought Dotel was a free agent and Dye has a mil dollar buyout or they can exercise paying him a ton of money (in which case they wouldn’t be able to trade him)

ESPN is also reporting KW is attempting to trade Thome and Count again.
Kansas City and the Cubs are said to be interested.

hey big ditka and everyone who is questioning the ability to trade players who are about to be free agents-
the reason a team would trade for a player who is about to become a free agent is because then they dont have to have a bidding war with 28 other teams to try and get a player that they covet. for example, if the giants want dye, they can trade for him and sign him to an extension without letting a team like the yankees or cubs or mets throwing huge sums of money at him and swaying his interest. duh.
duh.

Post 24. Bidding war with 28 other teams. There is the problem, 28 teams and a lot of bum players along with their agents. When there were fewer teams you had the best of the best players. None performing players with attitudes were dumped. There were always good players waiting in the wings.
Post 24. Right, the White Sox, who cares but don’t or get the other bums, the “we didn’t make it to the World serries again” Cubs.
And, again, the Yankees are on their way to another World Serries. What is it the Yankees have that the Sox and Cubs don’t have?
