White Sox launch new tech venture
If the White Sox sign an expensive free agent this off-season, it could be due in part to a new iPhone application for the Southeastern Conference.
It may sound absurd, but it's all part of a new way of operating on the South Side.
Crain'shas learned that on Monday, the White Sox will officially announce the launch of a new business operation that has nothing to do with baseball. The team has created Silver Chalice Ventures, a subsidiary that will focus initially on developing digital platforms for clients but ultimately could branch out into almost anything, according to Brooks Boyer, Sox chief marketing officer.

Whats next...
Multi-Level Marketing?
With only a 300 dollar investment….
Where do you see yourself in 3 years? What house, what car?
If you get only 10 of your friends (you are a popular guy, right?) to join, and they get 10 friends…
You look him square in the eye and tell him "Yes Sir, the check is in the mail"

Works for me..
I don’t care how the Sox earn money as long as they spend some of that extra cash on the team.

Way to lose focus.
Stick to business you know. You can diversify too much. I have no idea what competitive edge they have in this, unless they are trying to emulate all that is Dan Snyder/Jerry Jones/NY Spanks and slap their name on everything.
CAN'T GET ANY WORSE THAN THAT. THANK YOU. GOOD NIGHT. by BuehrleMan

IF it's not a large investment
And they have the people there to do the job, no real harm in it. It’s not like this is a manufacturing facility or anything that would be that capital intensive.
They’ve hired intelligent people, they have ideas that are profitable, why not make some money off it. As a finance guy I know where you are coming from, but when your diversifying into something that doesn’t really cost you anything, I don’t see why you don’t go for it.
And I doubt the people involved in the operation of the baseball team are losing any focus over this thing, it’s not like they have KW or Buddy Bell programming.
