Happy 15 Year Anny, Baseball Strike!
As anniversaries go, it's one most baseball fans would like to forget. Fifteen years ago the leaders of the Major League Baseball Players Association advised their members to walk off the job, thus beginning the ugliest, longest (232 days) and most damaging work stoppage in American sports history.

I bet the umpires would say their strike was the "most damaging".
And I had forgotten Sotomayor’s role in this one. Thx for the link.
"his ballerness could not be stoped which rose his era to 5.42 "
No play offs, no World Series.
The Sox were leading the division, and Frank Thomas had a shot at the Triple Crown. And since Baseball Reference is my friend, I can tell you that in 113 games, The Big Hurt was hitting .353 with 38 HRs and 101 ribbies at the time of the stoppage.
I thought we had a good shot that year.
I was bummed.
Look yonder, fellow SSSers. 2010 looms bright!

And Dave Winfield got traded for a steak dinner....
You look him square in the eye and tell him "Yes Sir, the check is in the mail"
