if you have a limited number of teams you can include on a list, it makes a bit of sense to include teams that may actually have an interest in trading for you as opposed to simply teams you wouldn’t want to play for. by way of example, damon may really, really not want to play for the florida marlins. but what’s the likelihood of them trading for him? virtually nil. on the other hand, a team like the white sox are a perennial contender and have the financial wherewithal to pay damon’s salary. but damon (or, more specifically, damon’s superagent scott boras) could use the NTC as leverage to get an additional year or something.

of course, he could hate chicago and the white sox certainly hate boras so this whole thing strikes me as a complete non-starter.
