$19M guaranteed for abreu
$9 M each in 2010-11, $1M buyout on $9M option for 2012 that can be guaranteed base on plate app.
There also is the possibility that Teahen could take over at third base, with rookie sensation Gordon Beckham moving to second base. Teahen could maintain the third base position until Brent Morel is ready for the majors in 2012 or sooner.
i like how the guy who was hailed by some as the starting 3B last season isn’t even mentioned anymore.
yep
but i think id just GB at SS and just put che back at 2nd

There is no way the Sox can afford to put Teahen in RF,
with Dye and Thome both ‘gone" next year they absolutely need more power, especially from a power position such as RF. Obviously there is more Kenny’s outfield plan.

I don't think it is at all crazy.
He should be contacted and considered.
i would like some guidance on this trade from the editors
all i have read so far is schoolboy arguments, would be nice if some of the experts would express what they think about the deal instead of slagging everyone else off who posts about it. ffs this site should be better than that, and people who edit it should nail their colours to the mast before having a go at everyone who posts here
by hoodlight on Nov 5, 2009 4:13 PM CST via mobile reply actions 2 recs
there's a very fine medium that has to be attained,
because youve gotta keep it fun, but at the samw time I understand what your saying in that there needs to be some REAL literature within the threas.

"This site should be better than that"
oh my… Did the laws of human nature get overturned? We are EXACTLY what we are, what we deserve, and who we should be. Sad, pathetic posers and posters, motivated by our own ability to tear down others to build ourselves up.

So quit lecturing us ya bloody wanker, cinch it up, hunker down, keep your powder dry and nail your own colours to the mast! :)

perhaps it strikes some of us as odd that a deal that supposedly is complete hasn't been announced.
at any rate, u-god posted his thoughts and cheat already said he’d be posting his tonight. quit whining.
and what do you think about the deal?
honestly, i’d like to know
by hoodlight on Nov 5, 2009 4:25 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
it's essentially irrelevant.
and who cares what i think about a deal that probably isn’t even completed yet.
right you think its irrelevant
so why not say so instead of waiting for people in the community to offer opinions and then shoot them down; straw men burn very quickly
by hoodlight on Nov 5, 2009 4:32 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
It's been said already, you think people care it's irrelevant?

by Ozzie Montana on Nov 5, 2009 4:33 PM CST up reply actions
i'm failing to see how what you're describing has anything to do with a straw man argument.
i’m sorry that i don’t manage to post all my thoughts on a particular topic before anyone else does and thus find it more reasonable to reply to their posts. i’ll be sure to make a composite post in the future for those who don’t want to sift through hundreds of comments.
it's called editorial responsibility
you edit and give guidance to people like me on what the sox are up to, else you just treat the blog as a plaything to humiliate people you dont arsed with, well thats fine and i dont mind it. but for anyone else when they log on to here you are listed as an editor, and thats bad because this place should not be some kind of private club
by hoodlight on Nov 5, 2009 5:00 PM CST via mobile up reply actions
so i either get to just edit and guide people or i can treat this as a plaything.
i’m fine with doing both, as we always have here. sorry you don’t agree but we were here long before you and your delicate sensibilities showed up and we’ve done just fine.
Hoodie, I hear what you're saying but...
This isn’t really any kind of a trade that is worth an “all hands on deck” effort from the editors. IF it actually happens it’s likely only one of several more moves to come.
Also, the kind of editorial you’re clamorinf for, and we ALL appreciate requires thought, research, and time.
It will come when warranted.

and a real, actually finalized deal would be essential, as well.
again, creating elaborate commentary on things that may well be make believe strike me as a waste of time (cough, fangraphs, cough beyond the boxscore). all that ends up happening in those cases are “oops, i called KW an idiot for doing a deal that actually never happened. and i wasted a half hour writing it.” awesome. not to mention that this rumor warrants about the level of commentary i provided at 11:41.
for example, this.
A source close to the situation then confirmed to the Sun-Times that the deal was all but done, but there were still talks about the possibility of minor-league prospects being involved. There was the hold up.
http://blogs.suntimes.com/whitesox/2009/11/getz_and_fields_traded_for_tea.html
depending upon who is involved and on which side could materially change the rumor from good to indifferent or indifferent to bad.
Provoking posters to use proper spelling and some sort of sentence structure does not a private club make.

Pedants are the most worthless thing in the history of existence
Shoot every single one of them throughout the course of human history and nothing would change in the slightest. That said, I don’t think larry’s all that pedantic.

Colin gave some numbers/stats in contribution too.
And who could forget TAEG’s hilarious recap of the last thread? My sides still ache from laughing so… Hold on, a text from HSA.
Oh. I’ve been reminded that TAEG has contributed nothing since the ’08 season.
Never mind.

unlike the authors, the editors get paid the big bucks on here.
comes with that whole editorial responsibility thing. we get paid way too much to just treat this blog as a plaything. super serious business on here. it’s baseball, after all.
I just earned my paycheck with the below cat gif.

Perhaps some of us are reserving our opinions for when something actually happens, rather than blowing our loads over some rather inconsequential rumor/move.
I’m pretty indifferent to this “trade” in terms of what we gave and who we’re getting…
But the additional salary doesn’t make much sense to me unless KW has his next move in mind.
I’ll offer my opinion when something real happens, but in the meantime, I promise that I will continue to “slag” folks who expect to be taken seriously when they can’t use words and form sensical sentences on a site that pretty heavily relies on written articulation.

I’m told the Teahen for Fields/Getz trade may or may not get done – ain’t done yet. I don’t think nation holds breath.
Actually. This better describes how I feel.

Teahen's
another 1st round draft pick.
If only Walker was as competent as Cooper.
it all makes sense now
Teehans was the other pub we went to for the SSS TP drink-up.
I guess they couldnt find a ball player named Holstein.

GIven what the BoSox gave up for Hermida, Getz and Fields for Teahen really looks like an overpay now
Still looking for a press release
Perhaps KW sobered up before completing the transaction and put a stop to it
"ass hole thi is the same line up whit leftys you idiot"
Close call brah
An officer approached Lincecum’s 2006 Mercedes and smelled marijuana as the pitcher rolled down his window. Schatzel said Lincecum immediately complied with a request to hand over the drug and a marijuana pipe from the car’s center console.
The amount measured was 3.3 grams. Schatzel said police consider that a small amount for personal use, well below the maximum of 40 grams before possession is classified differently and carries a more severe penalty.
