I don’t think signing a possible closer (Putz) is mutually exclusive with trading a closer (Jenks).

I think Putz increases the liklihood of the Sox trying to trade Jenks

but I don’t think the market’s there for the Sox to get a return that pleases them for Jenks. Plus, given Putz’ injury last year, I’m not sure the team would be all that comfortable with him closing.

or thought about Thorny closing if Jenksy was gone, so I think they feel they have some flexibility. I don’t believe Jenks has the closer’s spot locked down, with or without Pootz.

one, Jenks is under control for two years, for better or worse. Second, the Braves were cornered when Soriano accepted arb. So the Sox might be able to get something better.

4. Id rather beckham be leadoff than bat 7th where nimrod wants him to be…. and backup catcher doesnt matter much because AJ is going to catch 97 percent of the games like always

i had a hsa-esque rant about the people of seattle after x-mas shopping there.

fuck you every-seattle-person downtown last friday. I was the guy that didnt get the memo about all jackets having to be northface. lets all dress the same so as to include everyone(that paid their dues to the sorority/fraternity). And the kids, yeesh, that town needs more violence so the kids dont dress like such pussies. So yeah, rich assholes, bums, young and old, asian, caucasian, all of them pussies.

It wasnt all bad, I got to visit with the wife’s fam and show off the baby, ate traditional dutch fare friday night and some first catch of the season crab on saturday night, had some authentic chinese downtown, and picked up ‘the soul of baseball’ at a bad ass bookstore.

Was cruising down the street at the speed limit two days ago, and a guy on a bicycle darted into the middle of the road (at a crosswalk!) without any warning – one second, he was nowhere, the next he’s speeding into my peripheral vision and quickly out in front of my moving vehicle.
 
I SLAMMED on my brakes and gave him more than a piece of my mind about it, as he stopped to act all offended by my nearly hitting him. I told him to “SHUT UP AND FUCKING GO!!!!!!!!” (complete with gestures) and so he continued riding along his way.

HEY DOUCHE! It’s a crosswalk, not a crossbike…. and regardless, how about you look before you come racing out into a street??? What a FUCKING CONCEPT, EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

his future performance, but they will definitely miss his performance from this past year. Then you lose polanco and granderson. But even beyond these losses, they clearly don’t have any money to make up for these losses either through trade or free agency. Anything can happen in baseball. Hell the Royals played .500 ball a few years ago. But the Tigers do not appear to have the talent or resources to compete this year.

I would do it Gardner/Rios/Quentin if that were the case

and I meant, I don’t know if Jones, Kotsay, even Vizquel are backups if there’s no DH.
