Maybe this is an eyesore to some, but I love it.
I was going through old boxes and cleaning out my closet this weekend (no new antique guns were discovered this time) and found some old photos. You know the kind. You can hold them in your hands and put your greasy fingerprints all over 'em.
Anyway, I took this picture in 1999. (Or 2004, say the comments....) :)
I always like to get to the park early enough for batting practice. Obviously, the gates had just been opened when I took this.
Look at all that blue.....

You sure that's from '99?
The upper deck looks like it did after the 2004 renovations.
Chicago White Sox Examiner — I wish I could cuss right now.
I thought so based on the photograph itself... I only had one roll of film bordered in white like that when developed...and it was a roll that I shot in the summer of '99.
I suppose it could be taken later than that, but I’m not sure how it wound up with this white border then. :)
Not picky, but very sticky....

The upper deck was chopped in the 2003/2004 offseason.
I am wierdly nostalgic for “old” New Comiskey Park. The Blue Seats, the enclosed bullpen, the old dimensions, the Winston ad in right field.
I have great memories from Comiskey's red-headed stepchild decade, but I do not miss all that bright blue run amok one bit

I don't miss it either. I think the place looks HOT now...so much nicer/classier.... but this is still a sweet pic and like Rob said, there is some strange nostalgia there.... :)

I don't like the current iteration, though I like it more than when it first opened.
I loved Comiskey. We need more cigarette and booze ads now.

The park opened when I was 11, and I thought it was awesome.
You didn’t really care about nightlife, a fake “old timey” atmosphere, or anything else when your parents gave you a ride to the ballpark.
If you want to spend some quality time at (Old) New Comiskey, a younger Hawk (with Wimpy. On SportsChannel!), Frank, Robin, Bo, One Dog, Ozzie, Joey, and the rest…buy this, skip ahead to the chapter on the 90’s, and enjoy.
The 9th inning of no-hitters feature is one of my favorites
Especially the end of Joe Cowley’s (not that one) strictly academic no hitter against the Angels in ’86.
Thought it was Shea stadium at first....
