SSS Meet-up

So this is something we've been talking about for a while and it kind of didn't work last season.  But I figure right now would be a good time to pick a game seeing as its early enough for our out of towners to make arrangments.  Is a weekend a better idea or can people make it on a weeknight?  I'm thinking maybe the Clevland series in June or the Baltimore one in July.  Basically I just wanted to try to get the ball rolling.  So pitch some ideas and whatnot.

i'll go if i can.

but i’m in Still Haven’t Graduated limbo and i’m going to be in a2.

If it's in July, it means I can participate in alcohol consumption ($8 beers brah!). If it's June, then I can't.

As another heads-up, the Sox are playing in Milwaukee this June (weekend series, too) and I’ll likely be going to at least two of the three games. Brewers single-game tickets go on sale on the 28th. That should be fun.

I will have surpassed Colin for intellectual greatness in May

And will need something to enjoy life to its fullest degree before grad school turns me into a worthless gob of shit. I was thinking of circumnavigating the globe in a sailboat, but this sounds cool, too.

the hardest part of

grad school is getting in . . . the class work is not difficult, it is just a matter of the time committment depending on your work schedule, family, etc.

by jc2313 on Feb 14, 2009 8:48 PM CST up reply actions

I disagree completely

and I would guess that OSFIB, having recently defended, can attest to the difficulties of grad school as well.

I understand that the difficulty of the experience is highly dependent on the field as well as the school in particular, so I can see where it would have been different for you, but I’ve seen the meat grinder side, for certain.

You are right. But larry is actually a prick too.

My personal experience is an

MBA from one of the top schools in the country. The hard part is not the the difficulty of the classes, but the time it involves if you plan on working and raising a family simultaneously. I know many others who echo my thoughts from similar schools and programs as well. I cannot speak for anything outside of the MBA world.

I've got a few friends at top MBA

programs, and they say its a joke — they aren’t raising families or working though

As OSFIB has a PhD (do you?) I defer to your experience,

but as a Loyola M. Ed. grad my experience was similar to what jc2313 related. Easy. But that was in 1985.

This might be a long stretch....

But I plan on coming home for the weekend of May 16th.

Sox are away that weekend, but come back to play the Twins at home on Monday, the 19th of May.
I would be willing to extend my trip a day to catch that game and fly home late Monday. (but a weekend game would probably work best for the masses)

That’s the best I can do early in the season…
Otherwise, I should be home for about a week in July. I plan trips around the Sox schedule, so it would either be a mid-month trip, or a late-month (Yanks/Angels at the end of July).

There are my two votes.

...and then some depressed fucked-cake eating.

by homesickalien on Feb 16, 2009 11:25 AM CST reply actions

the may games might work for me....i get home from school the 7th

but i’ll try and come out for any games that i can….and actually find the other guys this year…still can’t drink with you old dudes in the bar yet….damn…next year, next year

takes some real stones for the one certifiable cocksucker on here to jump into this convo.-mm
