GLENDALE, Ariz. — The script is becoming more defined as Jose Contreras and Bartolo Colon make significant progress toward rejoining the White Sox's starting rotation.

The two right-handers are on schedule to pitch in a game as soon as March 14, provided they continue to recover from injuries. Contreras is recovering from a torn left Achilles' tendon. Colon had bone chips removed from his right arm last fall.

Colon has been able to throw long toss, and he and Contreras are scheduled to throw off a mound Monday.

The Sox won't need fourth and fifth starters until April 10-11, so there is plenty of time to alter the schedules of Contreras and Colon slightly if they're not fully ready.

Their routines could include pitching a simulated game or throwing a few days after the March 14 target.

Jose Contreras needs to be ready

for the Sox at least by july 1st. If he can’t play well or youngsters have played over him, he should at least be some small trade bait. Anyways, this is his walk year.
