OC to Toronto?
Could the Toronto Blue Jays be lying in the weeds waiting to make a player move? I'll say this: I've been told that they have some interest in free-agent shortstop Orlando Cabrera — who has also attracted interest from the Oakland Athletics — but that they need to first clear some payroll, even if it's just a couple of million dollars.

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
You watch Extras?
“You live alone, you don’t have a GF, and you don’t watch Star Trek the Next Generation? Good god”
That Patrick Stewart scene may be my favorite in the history of televised comedy.
You don’t really need context if you want to watch it here.
never seen extras. watched that scene. hilarious. now i'm going to have to netflix it.
Cashing checks and having sex.

i had them listed as a possible destination earlier in the year.
they must be contemplating a multi-year deal and think they can get OC to sign one for a cut-rate price. jays aren’t contenders this year but could engineer things for next year.

That they would like to trade Rolen and Overbay and might include Brandon League to “sweeten the deal”.

The Toronto Blue Jays called the Chicago White Sox a couple of weeks ago, and planted an idea in the head of Sox general manager Kenny Williams:
The Jays would like free-agent shortstop Orlando Cabrera, but they don’t want to sacrifice a draft pick to sign him. Would the White Sox consider re-signing Cabrera — who turned down salary arbitration from the team — then trade him to the Blue Jays? Then, last week, they called Cabrera’s agent, Dan Lozano, to bounce the idea off him.
They’re awaiting a response, and while the Blue Jays themselves are skeptical of getting this particular deal done, some in baseball believe it’s a sign of the times.

kenny on the talks with toronto
With regard to the conversations between Williams and Toronto general manager J.P. Riccardi, Williams said they weren’t “quite sure” how the whole sign-and-trade thing would work, or if anything would have eventually resulted from the talks.
“In our minds, there would have to be value to the picks to where whatever you got compensation trade-wise would still have to outweigh what you could get in Draft picks,” Williams said.
…
“You still have to get somewhat close to the value,” said Williams of the sign-and-trade possibility. “I say that in the spirit of also wanting to do the right thing for a guy that helped us win a division championship.”
