On the hitters side that's not too bad
Konerko bounces back; neither Thome nor Pierzynski fall off a cliff. I’d expect a healthy Quentin to beat that projection but otherwise things look about right.
I’m also thinking that if Ozzie plays it right he could parlay third-base into an .800 OPS spot between Fields and Ze Goggles.
And the second-base options are looking not-that-awful, too. If Lillibridge is truly a plus-plus defender at both MIF positions, he’s a pretty nice bench player. Hopefully one of Getz, Lillibridge or Nix can have a 75th-percentile season and give us better than replacement level there.
CF still looks like a black hole of bleh, though. I really think Edmonds would be a good fit with Anderson as his caddy but I can guess some reasons why that is unlikely to happen…
And damn, ZiPS loves it some Poreda — 150 league-average innings? I kind of doubt that but it’s still neat to see. ZiPS seems to be pretty friendly to the collection of fifth starter candidates we’ve compiled with Contreras, Richard and Poreda all being (more than) acceptable fourth and fifth starter candidates. Of course, it also has Floyd’s ERA increasing by 33%, but…

ZiPS loves Egbert as well.
SG does the mass simulations, not me, but I suspect that the Sox will do better in the ZiPS simulations than the other ones.

not really going to find many projection systems that like his numbers.

I think Ima write a post about making an "educated" projection using Floyd as an example

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
