White Sox pitching updates
The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
cowley's camelback press box review: FAIL
New ballpark looks great. Press box, well, not a lot of thought put into it. As far as the crowd gathering outside, a lot of LA Love.
Should just name this place what it is – Dodger Stadium East – with the Sox being the uncle no one likes renting the guest house.

Oh god.

There's huge excitement from the Dodgers end
They previously had the probably the most recognizable spring training home, DodgerTown. They’d trained in Florida since before they moved to LA. Now they moved from a cross-country flight to a distance close enough to make a day of it.
I mean do we care that the Sox moved from Southern AZ to less-Southern AZ? They got 2 hours closer, by car. Woopee!
But for Dodger fans, who’ve known only one spring home, this is a huge move (which is why I didn’t balk when I saw their pricing. It was only when the Sox matched the pricing that move really started to look shitty from a Sox fans perspective.

I think there is a pretty high amount of Chicago Ex-Pats in that area though
The Bears are a huge draw when they play the Cardinal… not saying they are going to pull in people anything like the Dodgers though.
The reason I cringed was...
Cowley pulling the “second team in the second city” card. One of my most hated Sox fan stereotypes.

sox approached by toronto for orca sign-and-trade
Could this be the year that the sign-and-trade comes to fruition in Major League Baseball? Possibly. That’s one way a team like the Toronto Blue Jays that doesn’t want to give up a draft pick to land a free agent can still do business in this market.
"Just like the NBA," one general manager said recently. "It’s something we ought to look at putting in the collective agreement."
There’s no subterfuge involved under the current agreement. It’s been doable, but requires a great deal of trust and creativity. In fact, this is something that the Blue Jays have discussed with at least one and possibly two teams this spring, according to Major League sources. One of those teams is the Chicago White Sox, who, according to sources, were approached about re-signing Orlando Cabrera, the free-agent shortstop in whom they have no interest, then turning around and trading Cabrera to the Blue Jays for a reliever or a minor-league position player.

Brian Myrow's minor league plate discipline is pretty awesome.
Key phrase is minor league, and he’s old, but he should probably translate into the majors better than someone like Brad Eldred or Mike Hessman
i think it's agreed upon.
and the dodgers sure burned through a lot of pitchers last inning. dunno if they have anyone left for potential extras. usually the teams will have a guy available just because they carry an extra arm or two in case someone makes a lot of pitches and can’t finish an inning per schedule or something.

well, we've got about three different pitches we think it was.
i thought it looked like his “new” slider. seemed too quick to be his changeup. but if harrell throws a split-finger, that would be news to me. and i suspect to harrell as well.
southsidesox.com - now the best place on the interwebs for chicago white sox analysis and discussion.
I wouldn't be surprised if Harrell was working on a split
and then he or the team told people it was something else. I trust Stone’s analysis as much as anyone’s, and it looked like a splitter to me. It dropped straight down and looked like it had tailing action. I don’t blame him though, he’s already had a major surgery so whatever helps him produce from here on is probably the best for everyone.
by Daniel Berlyn on Mar 1, 2009 7:46 PM CST up reply actions
which way did it go on which batter?
split/change isn’t going to be determinable, but apparently he doesn’t have one. if it moved arm side, it’s probably a change. glove side, slider.
how much to the have to pay the Players -- that's what she said -- of the league like BA?
It seemed to fade arm side to me.
I don’t have the video, but Stone specifically thought it was a split due to it’s “drop” action. If that was a slider, I want him to teach it to every fringe guy in the system.

how much to the have to pay the Players -- that's what she said -- of the league like BA?
my contract is very specific on this point. i only do recaps on saturday day games. if i want.
i thought cheat would be doing it but he seems to have disappeared in the past few innings. i’ll do one a little later if he doesn’t reappear.

Next Year,
I know i’m getting ahead of myself but, I’m more excited to see Allen, Beckham, Viceido, Flowers and what they develop into for the 2010 season than i am to see Konerko, Thome, A.J., Dye this season.
I just enjoy the promise, potential, and watching a player mature before your eyes. I have guarded optimism for a select group of our prospects
It's called Sex Panther by Odeon. It's illegal in nine countries... Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good.
They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.
"select group" = the ones that don't suck?
i’d have to whip out the THT annual to be sure, but there’s still a huge washout rate to worry about.

I agree....
I know that probably 2 of those 4 won’t pan out. Allen just seems to bring a lot of things to the table that our present first baseman hasn’t done in a few seasons. Throw in the fact that he can also run the bases well and I’m practically gitty. What’s the worst that Allen could project to do in 2010 – .250 Ba 20-25hr play a good defensive first and run the bases well…? that’s an upgrade over paulie’s production?

the worst?
he could totally fall apart. and i have no idea if that would be an upgrade over paulie’s production because you managed to neglect walks. there’s a reason why slash lines are so heavily cited. it’s because they mean something.

But Frank Thomas was always his own guy, he always lived by some sort of code that wasn’t especially clear to anyone but him.

side-note: i’m excited because after tomorrow night’s physics exam, i can actually spend time writing again
