sorry i hurt everyone’s feelings with “hater”. i would just like a shred of evidence that says Beckham’s career is somehow set back by staring with the big team (most likely at 2B). the arguement that it would be bad for the team is not strong simply because Beckham can likely exceed the value of anyone else trying to get the leadoff spot (which in my opinion was the biggest hole in out offense last year).

try reading, like, any prospect book, especially ones with a bent towards fantasy.

prospects who did not spend time at AAA (let alone AA or A+ in this case) are always good bets to struggle at the majors because they were never fully tested at the lower levels and didn’t have to learn how to adjust to the level of competition (or, perhaps allow for the competition to adjust to them and then respond to that). again, even if you don’t buy that, there is little incentive to start his arbitration clock right away.

and, since you’ve made this error twice now, there’s a ‘t’ in starting.

to clarify, the issue with a hitter is not so much the lack of AAA experience but the lack of any experience above low A.

i have little issue with a hitter jumping from AA to the majors, which is something that i think there is strong possiblity of occuring with beckham. also, beckham is not a good 2B right now. he can’t turn a DP worth shit. maybe he can get that straightened out in the next three weeks or so. but i doubt it. it’s not like the move to 2B is rocket science but i’d rather the guy gets his reps in down in the minors on this (and fucks up there) for a couple months instead of fucking up in the majors. if he can’t turn a DP adequately, the sox are going to be giving back a good bit of whatever help he may provide on offense over the current options.

The most awkward smoking moment for me is when

i heated up 2 butter knives over a stove to get high off of hash. We cut a 2 liter bottle in half, took a funnel and secured it with bubble gum. We thought the bottle itself would work but there was too much air being let through. The funnel worked perfectly, I was high for hours.

it’s about minor league player evaluation. the white sox have shown little ability to do it well. if they get caught up in the same thing the beat writers – and lots of people on this board – have been of mistaking tools (no matter how nice) for ability at the major league level, it doesn’t matter if it’s named richar or beckham. again, let me know when beckham hits against a major league pitcher.
