After looking in on the first inning, it appears my bet with the boys at Lemming’s Bar on Damen is a lock…

That I would buy pizza for the whole bar on a Saturday if Bartolo Colon won 10 games in 2009. At this moment, I am pretty sure Kenny Williams will be considering the option to release him before the season starts.

No pitch speed shown on these crappy broadcasts....but it's looking decent.

Using the fast ball a lot….haven’t seen the changeup much (I am mostly watching, but have missed some pitches due to work)…..
Looks to be in control overall.

If I had to guess. And that's all I can do is guess

he was prolly sitting at about 86-87 on his 2 seamer, touching 90 with his 4 seamer.

He showed a slider and a change as well, both looked good.

His main problem was no control over his 2-seamer. It was up early, and when he got it down he tailed it to the center of the plate.

i mostly concur

i thought he was generally up with his non-breaking ball, which looked caused by what i’ll call “mechanic rust”. which is another way of saying “stuff i’d worry about if this were the end of April for an opening day starter”.

Observations from Saturday's TV game:

I really like Getz, especially at the plate. Beckham is good. I sure as hell hope Anderson gets at least twothirds of the starts in center if this is the personnel we’re gonna have to srart the year. Poreda needs a lot of work on the slider and change, as everyone’s been saying. I have a good feeling about Konerko this year.
