Contreras, Colon look good in '09 mound debuts
Both [Jose] Contreras and veteran pitcher Bartolo Colon made their 2009 debuts off the mound before the Cactus League game with Seattle, with each impressive in their own way in the bullpen session.
Contreras, who is more than three months ahead of schedule after rupturing his left Achilles tendon, was the one opening up more eyes from the simple standpoint of what he was doing. Not only was he throwing all of his pitches, but on several occasions dropped his arm angle down and threw sidearm to test the injury.
His fastball had pop on it, leaving pitching coach Don Cooper saying, "The way he looked [Monday], ‘Hey, we could plug him tomorrow.’ But we’re not going to do that.’’

I am missing something regarding
a pitcher throwing from a 3/4 angle after suffering an achilles injury? I don’t see how that is any different than throwing from a normal angle in regard to the achilles. I would be more impressed if he was sprinting off the mound and covering 1st base again.
Which isnt to say that I am not impressed with his recovery, pretty remarkable actually.
I didn't fully understand that either.
Perhaps one lands differently? And I know this is just all “happy talk” at this stage, and we will have to wait to see what the future really holds for these two, but it’s still good to hear.
personally, i used more of a stride and push off when i threw from 3/4 during my pitching days...
but that’s me
takes some real stones for the one certifiable cocksucker on here to jump into this convo.-mm
your landing is a bit different.
you have to spin a little more on your front foot to get into fielding position when you are coming from the side. Go ahead…try it.

No - its the dicing and chopping, the angle makes it more difficult
Replacing "Chicago Tough" with "Cuban Pride"
Fucking '59 Dodgers just beat the Sox.
I was hoping for a different outcome this time.

a 'lost' viewer?
The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
my dad says the same thing every year when we watch "how the grinch stole christmas"
But Frank Thomas was always his own guy, he always lived by some sort of code that wasn’t especially clear to anyone but him.
Hoodlight says the same thing every time he watches "Gandhi"
Confusion breeds success. If they don't know each other, opponents can't have strategy. GENIUS.

If anyone has a subscription to the WSJ
Nice article about SBNation, which has signed onto a deal with USA Today, a week after starting a collaboration with Yahoo, and seen a 15% increase in site traffic.
Point is, Cheat has officially sold out. No longer cool, part of the machine, we’re doomed.

…But Bartolo continues to feel good and continues to feel like he’s climbing and talking and saying a lot of good stuff.
...and then some depressed fucked-cake eating.

This really is a slow night isn't it?
I’m thinking about making a sandwich, a thought I blame entirely on the picture attached to the picture on the main page.
