AL Only and Mixed league finished. NL only today.

Anyway I figured its about time for another thread for fantasy for those with late drafts and altering lineups - pickups, etc.

I personally like this draft because they are current (not 4 months ago before to meet print deadlines) and most of the folks I respect. All auction of course but you can translate roughly for drafting.

Quick highlights
AL only league

1) Matt Berry of ESPN (one of the folks I DON"T respect) paid 27 bucks for our great Rameriz, inching the unsure AROD by $2 and $2 less than ROY Longoria. Of course some of this is position scarcity but I've noticed Alexei rising in ADP in general (many times over Q who went for $25). The point is many are really starting to feel Alexei may have a monster year in regards to counting stats. And with the way he bats with baseloaded I tend to agree (lol.) Seriously the love was flowing for him among several experts. Take that JRE!!!!

2) Tex went for $37

3)Wieters went for $9. Folks don't crazy over this guy, especially if you go year to year (no keepers) and especially in a mixed league.

4)CC $30 - AJBurnett $20 (screw the evil empire.)

5)Larry's favorite Justin went for $30 and his other Maggs went for $24 (cheap was the comment)

6)Holliday ONLY $28. That Oakland park really sucks.

7)Sam Walker (A closet White Sox fan I think) spent $6 bucks on babe magnet BA. Walker won last year largely on the strength of young bucks named Floyd and Danks. Who are those guys???? I still recommend his book Fantasyland (dirt cheap now) plenty of laugh out loud moments for an idiot spending a fortune to win a free league.

8) Big Papi down to $21

9) Danks high Sox starting pitcher for $13.

10) Fields and Crede $9 a piece

11) Carmona $4 ouch.

12) Sweeney $12

Anyway hopefully a few folks can add who they really like or don't like this year. If not I'll continue to add posts and ramble on to myself!

Mixed Highlights

1) Lincecum $31 (lower than I expected. Health and team concerns. Did I mention health concerns?)

2) Pujols $48 -HRam $49

3)Cliff Lee $18 he went for $19 in AL only. Newsflash regression expected….

4)Mauer $15 by health guy Will Carroll. Read into what you want.

5)Q! $25 again- where is the love?

6) Alexei $25 still solid.

7)Big fav of mine Markakis went for $31. Im serious. Get this guy this year. I’ve had 2 drafts so far mixed and got him in the 3rd which shouldn’t be a problem. He may give 1st round production this year.

8)Contrast Pence $23 who Ive soured on.

9) Forgot to mention 12 team league this is.

10)Danks $11 – Javy $19. (but will he out do Marquez????)

11)Wieter $15 (ridiculous)

Funny comment from observer

"Sheehan’s team this morning also sucked. I don’t think BP guys are very good at fantasy baseball. "

2nd half today.

Rotowire Top 100 updated (20 at a time)

Sshh. Posted this last year and gave five I thought underrated and five overrated

1)Hanley Ramirez – watch health reports
2)David Wright –
3)Albert Pujols –
4)Jose Reyes –
5)Miguel Cabrera –
6)Grady Sizemore – OF – BA deflates value
7)Jimmy Rollins – SS –
8)Mark Teixeira – 1B –
9)Ryan Braun – OF –
10)Josh Hamilton – OF –
11)Chase Utley
12)Ian Kinsler- Not exactly an iron man
13)Carlos Beltran
14)Tim Lincecum
15)Dustin Ped
16)BJ Upton
17)Evan Long
18)Carlos Lee
19)Lance Berkman
20)Alfonso Sor

No hugh surprises though Im sure many would quibble with order. I dont think I trust Josh Hamilton that high. Also Im leary of Dustin so high even though I rode him last year.

Top 6 jackpot of course. And Braun tied with early 2nd round pick (utley?) is very nice.

21-40

21)Ryan Howard – 1B – This won’t get him, but that’s the point. Don’t spend a first-round pick on someone who could bring .240 into the equation.
22)Matt Holliday – OF –
24)Nick Markakis – OF –
25)Brandon Webb – P -
26)Alex Rodriguez – 3B – Good progress in his recovery so far – how much time does he miss? Two weeks? A month? Six weeks? And will he run when he returns?
27)Johan Santana(17) – P –
28)Brian Roberts – 2B –
29)Justin Morneau – 1B –
30)Brandon Phillips – 2B –
31)Jason Bay – OF –
32)Kevin Youkilis – 1B, 3B –
33)Aramis Ramirez – 3B –
 34)Curtis Granderson – OF
35)Manny Ramirez – OF –
36)Brian McCann – C –
37)Prince Fielder – 1B –
38)Matt Kemp – OF –
39)Carl Crawford – OF –
40)Roy Halladay – P

Good point on Howard. though if he lauches 60 I’ll cry.
I already expressed my thoughts on Markakis. Add Kemp to that, if you can grab him in the 4th do it and quick.
Got McCann in 5th round.
Even though I hate the division winning Twins Justin is very solid.

41-60

41)Vladimir Guerrero – OF -
42)Jacoby Ellsbury – OF – I’m not as high as most, though it’s hard to ignore his potential as a category-killer. Modest bump up – he’s going as high as #30 in some leagues during the NFBC.
43)Geovany Soto – C – .
44)Dan Haren(52) – P –
45)Russell Martin – C -
46)Magglio Ordonez – OF –
47)CC Sabathia – P –
48)Cole Hamels – P –
49)Jon Papelbon – P –
50)Adrian Gonzalez – 1B –
51)Alexis Rios – OF –
52)Alexei Ramirez(59)2B – If the White Sox follow through with their plans, Ramirez will be eligible at shortstop as well two weeks into the season.
53)Carlos Quentin – OF – While it’s reasonable to worry about his health, his performance last year was legit.
54)Rafael Furcal – SS –
55)Shane Victorino(71)OF –
56)Chris Davis – 1B, 3B –
57)James Shields – P –
58)Jake Peavy – P – A trade would be a mixed blessing – more run support, but subtracts the benefits of Petco.
59)Nate McLouth – OF –
60)Joey Votto – 1B -

Love Cole but health scares me. If he’s there in 5th I would be all over it.
In one draft I watched Ellsbury slide to me in 6th. How could I pass there? Anyone else have an opinion on him?

Q actually went at the end of 2nd in 1 (shocked)
and in the 3rd of the another. (I guess its not meant for me to carry superman this year)

61-80

61)Bobby Abreu – OF –
62)Joakim Soria – P –
63)Dan Uggla – 2B – If you miss out on the initial run of second basemen, Uggla is a really nice consolation prize.
64)Troy Tulowitzki – SS –
65)Chipper Jones – 3B –
66)Stephen Drew – SS – Drew has to hit 20+ homers again to justify any higher slot – he just doesn’t run that often. Abdominal strain this week – so far, the Diamondbacks are downplaying the injury.
67)Derek Jeter – SS – On the downswing, but he’ll still hit for average, score runs and steal some bags.
68)Joe Nathan – P -
69)David Ortiz – DH –
70)Victor Martinez – C –
71)Adam Dunn – OF – Like Ryan Howard, but without the RBI and the resultant “non-clutch” reputation.
72)Corey Hart – OF – .
73)Michael Young – SS –
74)Robinson Cano – 2B –
75)J.J. Hardy – SS –
76)Derrek Lee – 1B –
77)Aubrey Huff – 1B, 3B – Huff’s added third-base eligibility helps. Last year was not a complete fluke.
78)Chone Figgins – 3B –
79)Mariano Rivera – P –
80)Ryan Zimmerman

I combined Chipper with Beltre (who I think is highly underrated) in 1 league.
I’ve been surprised how far Ortiz is slipping 7th round or so. Seems plenty healthy this year. I wouldn’t touch D Lee with Larry’s ….. well you get the point.

A lot of folks are high on Drew.

81)Cliff Lee – P – Lee won’t be among the first-tier starters, but that’s not an insult.
82)Carlos Pena – 1B – Pena’s homers will come at the expense of his batting average.
83)Adrian Beltre – 3B –
84)Jhonny Peralta – SS –
85)Scott Baker – P –
86)Javier Vazquez – P – Vazquez is this year’s winner of the Ted Lilly/Bronson Arroyo bounce to the NL.
87)Francisco Rodriguez P –
88)Felix Hernandez – P – Will King Felix break out or just simply break? I vote for the former. (I disagree!)
89)Chad Billingsley – P –
90)Garrett Atkins – 3B, 1B – Atkins’ draft value is hurt by the threat of a potential midseason trade away from Colorado.
91)Raul Ibanez – OF –
92)Hunter Pence – OF –
93)Torii Hunter – OF –
94)Jay Bruce – OF –
95)Zack Greinke – P –
96)Ryan Doumit – C –
97)Brad Lidge – P –
98)Roy Oswalt – P – Oswalt traded homers for strikeouts last year, a high-variance strategy.
99)Jermaine Dye – OF – Dye is another useful “old and boring” player.
100)Ryan Ludwick – OF

Final 20. I know Javy is popular for an uptick but havent we seen this all before? Plenty of starts vs Mets, Phils and Fish. I’d still take him but wouldnt overreach.

I love a name behind Javy, Zach Greinke. Way underrated.

Billingsley slipping lately also. Could be nice value pick.
