A little blurb from BP:
Perhaps the new hot statistic will be revealed in the movie version of Moneyball; the book is being turned into a feature film by Columbia Pictures, and Beane will be played by Brad Pitt. “I guess it’s better than Ernest Borgnine,” Beane cracked.
Who will play KW?

newsflash from phil rogers: beckham is good.
and played football!
It seems he hardly flinched the first time a potential position change was addressed. He’s a team guy, after all—the quarterback of his high school team, and the son of a University of South Carolina quarterback.

Dayan to get time in left in the minors?
With Jermaine Dye likely playing his final season on the South Side, the Sox would love to move Carlos Quentin over to right field – his more natural outfield position – in 2010, and then plugging Viciedo into left field, much like they did with Carlos Lee – another lumbering one-time third baseman.
Third is his home for now, but don’t expect it to be a permanent residency.

I was just over at Minorleagueball
and can someone tell Sickels how to use google docs? He’s trying to do community projections and I think they could get through quite a few more players if they switched the the format we’ve been using. I just don’t know how to set the page up or I would.
Sometimes I miss the days when if you thought the guy was a good ballplayer you were right because no one knew any better.

viciedo doesn't like breaking pitch
“I do agree teams have been trying to get me to chase bad pitches,” Viciedo said Wednesday after the White Sox’s 7-2 loss to Oakland. “That’s where I need to adjust and get better at adjusting to those breaking pitches.”
Viciedo, who left Cuba last fall, displayed his patience by drawing a walk off Oakland’s Dana Eveland in his first at-bat. Viciedo then ripped his second home run of spring training, a two-run shot over the center field fence, off journeyman Jerome Williams in the fourth.
…
As far back as SoxFest in late January, manager Ozzie Guillen made it clear that the starting third base job was Josh Fields’ to lose, and Fields has played well. Viciedo had a shaky moment last Thursday in Colorado, but he has a powerful arm and insisted he’s a capable defender.
“I feel good defensively,” Viciedo said. “I don’t have a problem. I don’t have any issues. I feel comfortable. I’m not bad, for sure.”
The Sox will continue to let Viciedo play third base, but they may have a pleasant problem if he continues to hit. He is hitting .364 with Pedro Guerrero-like power, and his bat could find him at another position in the near future.

so we should probably start projecting him in the outfield, right?
spring training starts and suddenly the beat guys are talking about switching to the outfield? i appreciate his confidence, but he’s not exactly the best judge of his own performance.

I don't know anyone projecting him to play third much in the bigs.
Then again, he’s giant for an outfielder of any sort. We could be facing a conundrum in the field in a couple years…

i don't think he'd have that much trouble in the outfield.
