so what - you cant win em all

if you could, the answers would be in Geneva – the rest of the division is a bag of shit too, if we keep at 0.500 by the all star break, then that’s good

ok, this is going to be useless comment

but there is something off about this team. They are on a verge of being good but almost as if they “don’t want to”. Anyways, a win would have been nice, but what can you do. At least BA is continuing to surprise us.

Despite the loss I'd say there was more good than bad

Alexei looks like he’s slowly getting his shit together and Anderson’s play has been very encouraging. I’ll also say that Contreras is gradually getting back — the forkball he threw to Snyder was easily the best he’s thrown all year. If he gets comfortable with that pitch he should be an acceptable back-end starter for this year.

Also time for Quentin to start getting some BIP luck. He’s close to 100 points below his career average.

Anderson needs to hustle more on defense

Im disapointed whenever I see him jog to a ball and let it bounce once to him.
Im sure he could take some dives…

Contreras in the sun times
‘’I was throwing first-pitch strikes,’’ Contreras said. ‘’My split-finger, two-seamer, four-seamer, they were all in the strike zone, and that was the big difference. The key is the split-finger against left-handers. That’s the pitch I set up lefties with.’’

I am actually nervous for the M's series. Mariners are, in the words of five wise men, "hangin' tough."

Holding onto small, late-inning leads…manufacturing runs…great defense at all corners.

While I think their pitching wheels will eventually fall off and most likely be their demise, they are undeniably hot right now.

They’ve won all of their series so far (including 4/6 against LAA and a sweep of Oakland), except against Detroit and a split in Minnesota…..so apparently the ALC is giving them the most trouble (woot).

Looking forward to it…but I have butterflies in my gut. Man, I’d sure hate to be heckled by M’s fans…..

Must win today: Danks vs Jakubauskas (sp?). Must. Win.

Now who's wound up?

Hoodie, calm down, you’ll have a heart attack. True story: Saturday night a buddy and his wife, and my wife and I are dining. This guy’s played soccer for 18 years in a recreational league. His team sucks, but he loves it.

Last Sunday his team is playing a team of Brits (who live in Orlando) and are getting pummelled 4-0 at the half. His team comes back to tie it at 4-4. The guy guarding him was trying to clothesline him, tossing F-bombs in his wake and acting the hooligan out of frustration.

So the end of the game is nigh, and the frustrated Brit asks to come out of the game. He takes a knee, proceeds to roll over, and starts seizing up/foaming at the mouth. Died on the field. 44 years old, with three kids. His obit was in yesterday’s paper.

So, my fine fellow, calm down and treat every moment as it may be your last. You. Wanker. ;)

Since it was very winnable, yesterday's game is another

we’ll wish they had won in September when the Sox are trailing by 2 games to, would you believe, KC?! (No, me either). It was much like the very winnable game where Thornton gave up the Grand Salami…coulda, shoulda, woulda…oh well.

Also, they are trying to make light of Getz’s injury, but a fracture is a fracture, right? Doesn’t a broken bone, no matter how slightly broken, require a minimum of 4 weeks to heal? Especially on a throwing hand?

I’m also concerned about Thome…or is he just off to a slow, suckish start? His dingers and RBI totals aren’t terrible…but the average, not so good.

On the upside, I have pretty good seats for tonight’s game where I will be sitting through a series of rain delays…good times.

I don’t know what to make of this team so far. Until a clear personality emerges, I will simply call it “Sybil.”

if the fracture is located where getz' apparently is

sure, it will need time to heal. but playing with it may not actually aggravate it and/or cause it to heal less slowly. of course, if he gets hit on it again or whatever, that could cause a delay. i think the questions are whether there’s swelling/pain that interferes with baseball activity and what exactly the chances are that it won’t heal properly etc. if he plays on it.

larry he can't hit for average

he gets on base but becomes a walking double play after he gets on first. Hits the occasional home run which is nice, but we could have so many intriguing lineups with him out of it. We could improve defensively if we took out Dye, or Q! and replaced those spots witih better defensive players.
