Around SBN: Bob Sapp Denies Throwing Fights

Padillaed

Also:

  • Clayton Richard is named the starter for next Wednesday against the Indians. (thanks, Wiz)
  • Jose Contreras, once he clears waivers, will be on his way to the minors - presumably Charlotte.
  • For those of you running for the nearest ledge...White Sox record after 30 games in 2008: 14-16.
  • [edit 7:50 pm] And Bobby admits what we all knew: he threw behind Kinsler on purpose.

I figure the new LG skyline deck or LED scoreboard must be the reason U.S. Cellular has become a run-suppressing ballpark in 2009

hmmm...

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.

I think he has a Chicago connection too…

my favorite quote of the game

stone: Alexei needs to stop swinging at those outside pitches
hawk: yeah, thats the longest six inches in sports
stone: …. are you talking about the space between the ears?

stone seemed at a loss of words several times whenever hawk said something weird

Hawk, Farmer and DJ

are in the same situation as Walker. They’re FAMILY. You can’t fire family.

Hawk, Farmer and DJ are atrocious. Fire the first 2 and bring in professional broadcasters, like the Cubs. Professional play by play person + ex baseball color person.

Not sure how Brooks Boyer got his job.

Should have gone to Robin Ventura.

just checked out the boxscore

so padilla gave up only 1 hit, walked 4 and struck out only one?

this makes me think that we were at least hitting the ball and were unlucky at where the ball went? or were they mostly soft ground balls and pop ups? id certainly hope for the former, but absolutely would not rule out the latter.

i suck - the sox dont - SSH2005

by BoeJouma on May 10, 2009 8:11 PM CDT reply actions

i've wanted to say that

but the Sox just aren’t hitting the ball that hard. lower third in wOBA, 24th in BB/K, average ISO and basically at the median in BABIP. Thome and Alexei need to de-suck at the plate before this team will be good offensively.

14 - 16 both years but,

2008: runs scored – 139 , runs allowed – 120.

2009: runs scored – 125 , runs allowed – 141.

Not good at all.

Francisco Liriano=Marlo Stanfield?

"I am amazed we’re as high as 17th in the baserunning metric, and can’t even imagine what Atlanta must be doing to be graded that much worse — seriously, do they just swing then roam randomly around the infield oblivious of the concept of the "base"?." -TAEG

I think Jenks is a moron.

He meant to put the tying run on base in the 9th inning? What a retard. Next pitch Kinsler would have stole second… and been safe easily since our catchers couldn’t throw out Newman from Sienfeld…. Then he is facing Vizquel who is a contact hitter and hitting .400. Real smart. jagoff.

you know, a strike comes within inches of hitting a batter.

guess the sox should stop throwing those, too.

and it wasn’t close. if it were “within inches” i think the reaction from kinsler may have been slightly different.
