It was basically a given that the Sox were going to struggle to score runs tonight...

what was actually frustrating tonight was:

(a) Danks getting tattooed. It was all the more frustrating because of how the inning started. Lind’s double was a miserable defensive effort on Konerko’s part. That ball was hit (at most) a couple feet to Konerko’s left and he couldn’t get to it. Then there was Rolen’s bouncer that wasn’t hit particularly hard yet found a hole between Nix and Che. And finally Millar’s grounder past a diving Getz**. Seeing two mediocre hitters like Barajas and Bautista pound doubles was just icing on a shitty cake.

**Be forewarned that more than anything this is me ranting and likely getting caught up in the Sox playing some terrible baseball, but I despise where the Sox have gone defensively as a team since 2005. At full health does this team have even ONE starter who is solidly above average on defensive? Maybe BA? This is compounded by the fact that right now the Sox have four spots that are complete black holes.

(b) Quentin looks as bad at the plate as any time I can remember. I’m guessing that this is just me getting caught up in a cold streak, though — his BABIP is still about 60 points below his career average and his LD% is around 20%, which is up from last year. Still, the first pitch pop-outs are becoming as aesthetically unpleasing as the Konerko bat-drop-and-shoulder-shrug or the Crede infield flyout.

new lineup coming tomorrow
“[Saturday] we’ll have a lineup change,‘’ Guillen said. "I’m going to [bleeping] play [coaches] Bainesy [Harold Baines], Joey Cora and Greg Walker. We might have a better chance. At least, you know what, we’re not going to strikeout that [bleeping] much, I guarantee that. Any team, no matter how good you are, you’re not going to win striking out that many times.’’

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.

I like it! I've been saying that for years!

Man on third and less than two outs…put up harold- he’ll bring him in with a fucking ground ball to second or a fly out to left. christ. its not that hard!

The only fire on this team is from the coaches.

The players have already rolled over.

We need a Buehrle destroying the gatorade tub with a bat again.

At least he left the game with some dramatics. Upon leaving, Danks was getting it from the Blue Jays fans sitting above the visiting dugout, and mockingly gave them a tip of his cap.

“These fans … I don’t want to get in trouble, they are hockey fans, call them that,‘’ Danks said, watching his words carefully. "They were getting on me pretty good and it was just kind of my way of kind of slapping them back in the face, I guess you could say.’’

Josh Fields, RIP

That didn’t take long. Not looking good, small sample size blah blah blah but his ISO and SLG are below league average, he’s 2nd in the AL in Ks, and his BB/K is below league average.

Then on top of that his BABIP is quite a bit above league average, which means that if that comes down to earth he’s gonna suck even worse. If he were 22 I’d have some patience, but he’s 26. And let’s not mention his defense. I do not think Josh Fields is anything more than a one season stopgap at 3B, if that.

This hurts, they needed something from him this year and have gotten nothing so far.

Coach says he needs more toughness. I gotta step up.

One year stop gap for who? Dayan?

Really, one could make the argument that this team has (or should realize) that they have one year stop gaps for a third of the roster…but the depth is lacking, and the somewhat increased depth in the minors, probably isn’t ready.

3B, 1B (assuming Konerko DH’s next year), CF, RF all need to be addressed. SS may need to be addressed as well, but there is a glimmer of hope in Beckham.

Two rotation spots need to be addressed and a possible new closer if Bobby gets dealt will have to be addressed.

In April, I thought we had a team that would at least compete for a division crown, but now it looks like only a matter of time before a few players are traded (dumped) and we start looking towards the future. I don’t see this team being able to compete next year either – way too many holes.

Nobody in the division has played over.500 over the last 10 games.

They will compete for the division crown. A .500 team, or even less, might do it.

this division is terrible

Anyone see the end of the Twins v Yankees last night?

Looking pretty grim

Mid-may and no signs of life in this team – if anything it is getting worse.

Hey but how about them Hawks?

White Sox: Oops, looks like we rolled snake eyes.

Hey - don't sweat it...

think how short the lines at the park will be… if any, and how you’ll enjoy the summer that much more!
