News getting worse for Sox
"Carlos came to me after [batting practice] and said he couldn't go,''[Joey] Cora said, as Quentin's left heel continues to be a problem. "The plan right now, he's leaving Sunday night to Chicago and get some treatment Monday. And hopefully be able to play on Tuesday, but that's where he's at right now. He won't be available tomorrow or on Monday.''
Head trainer Herm Schneider actually sent word that Quentin will get re-evaluated tomorrow morning at the Rogers Centre, and if there's no improvement he could be on a flight out by late afternoon.
If he has to go on the 15-day DL the Sox would be in some real big trouble, as the outfield is already thin.

is terrero available?
if he could replicate his pace from 2007 the sox would lose absolutely nothing in the hit by pitch department.
brian anderson would've caught that...

wait till the deadline - no rush
it’s like all our weaknesses everyone knows about, I feel sorry for most of the pitchers and people like Getz who is being slammed by some despite being in my view one of the more accomplished players on the team

I’m waiting for the ’ bats to warm up ’ , why don’t they put the bats in a microwave covered in olive oil before they use them? then they would be warm

nix against rightys, fields against leftys at third,
anderson against righties, pods against lefties at center( when quentin gets better)
goggles against righties, thome against lefties at DH
and Ozzie needs to set a fire, hes getting too comfortable with the players,
make them fight for their spots

Fields will be ok now after his day off
he’s worked out all his problems
Fields believes he might have resolved his problems after an early hitting session with hitting coach Greg Walker.
“Hopefully that will be it,” Fields said. “They’re giving me a day to regroup and think about what’s going on.”

I've seen people say that Fields ' has a hitch in his swing '
what does this actually mean?
many thanks
by hoodlight on May 17, 2009 11:00 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
There is a lot of movement (dip) in his hands before actually starting his swing
Watch video of Fields on whitesox.com, they’ll show a view from the first base dugout where you can see it clearly. Come to think of it there may not be any Fields highlights on whitesox.com, so go to the Rangers website and watch Josh Hamilton to see a similar hitch but with much better bat speed in the swing

White Sox slugger Carlos Quentin will return to Chicago on Sunday night for treatment on his ailing left heel.
The Sox don’t believe Quentin’s injury will keep him out for a lengthy period. According to bench coach Joey Cora, Quentin will undergo shock wave treatment on his foot. Cora added the injury hasn’t gotten worse.
“I think the spot where the cortisone shot was worked in that particular area, but it (the pain) moved to some other area, from what I heard,” Cora said.

The questions surrounding Carlos Quentin’s left heel injury continued on Sunday afternoon, as the team first indicated that he was heading out on a 6 p.m. flight to return to Chicago and receive further treatment, and then said before game time that he might stay.
All that is know about the injury is that he received a cortisone shot in the heel while the Sox were in Cleveland, and returned to the lineup on Friday. He was a late scratch Saturday, however, when the pain moved to the mid-foot area.
Quentin received treatment both Saturday and Sunday, but was seen taking flips in the batting cage about an hour before game time.
