What the Hell? SSS Ranked #8 MLB Blog?
http://buzzmanagerblog.blogspot.com/2009/05/sports-blog-index-top-15-mlb-blogs.html
1. MLB Trade Rumors - Our new #1 was very strong in virtually every relevant category used to assemble the list. The site features tons of trade rumors and free agent news, all from credible journalists. It has over 17,000 subscribers, and a passionate community that comments frequently in spite of a high volume of posts.
2. Baseball Musings - With a well-ranked blog that puts out more posts than any other blog on this list, you can have your finger firmly on the pulse of baseball without going anywhere else. It doesn’t hurt to have a former ESPN stats guru at the helm.
3. Joe Posnanski - Joe puts out less content than a lot of blogs on this list, but the Kansas City Star columnist and two-time best sports columnist in America puts out interesting and thought-provoking posts that really resonate with his readers.
4. FanGraphs Baseball - Don’t let their relatively simple design and approach fool you. The crew of writers at FanGraphs consistently put out intriguing content backed with statistical analysis that would do Bill James proud.
5. Hardball Times - Admittedly, for our team the newspaper aesthetic felt a little cluttered and their community doesn’t seem to be as active as some of the other top tier MLB blogs, but they put out great content. It also doesn’t hurt that they’re a high traffic blog that is well respected in sports blog networks such as Ballhype.
6. Athletics Nation - In at #6, this blog is the first team-specific blog, and SB nation blog to make the list. The blog was middle of the road in a lot of our categories, but excelled in the size, passion and knowledge of their community. Consistency and longevity (#1 on last year’s list) didn’t hurt their case either.
7. Lookout Landing - The Mariners might not be playing great this season, but that doesn’t stop the crew at Lookout Landing from putting out a high volume of solid content. Couple that with strong participation from a vibrant community and you see why they’re in the top half of this list.
8. South Side Sox - Third team oriented SB Nation blog in a row. Those guys over at SB nation must be doing something right eh? Well so are the South Side Sox Staff (say that 5 times really fast) as they are one of the most linked to blogs in MLB blogosphere. In addition to their high rankings, they also have a solid community of fans.
9. Bleed Cubbie Blue - No Steve Bartman guest posts here (yeah, I went there.) A highly trafficked, highly linked to blog, Bleed Cubbie Blue also a very vibrant community rivaled only by Athletics Nation and a few others.
10. Beyond the Box Score - “Statistics Gone Mad,” is an understatement, as this blog is a stat rats haven. This blog is above the mean in most categories, but excels with great content, community, and blog network rank.
SouthSideSox is a community driven site. As such, users are able to express their thoughts and opinions in a FanPost, such as this one, which represents the views of this particular fan, but not necessarily the entire community or SouthSideSox editors.

Holy crap! Beaten out by the LOL!
Though if content were king, this place would be even higher…
Looks like you guys are in for a raise.
Until you've looked at an ant through a magnifying glass on a sunny day, you don't realize how often they go up in flames...
"strong participation from a vibrant community"
well if that doesn’t make you want to wrap your penis in a gasoline-doused newspaper and light it on fire, i don’t know what will

People will continue to make crappy lists as long as you continue to link to their crappy lists

but what the heck kind of criteria gets SSS anywhere near one of these?
White Sox Minor League Updates: http://twitter.com/SouthSidelarry
it made sense for about the first 7.

I don't know if this was just anecdotal, but 'they are one of the most linked to blogs in MLB blogosphere' is pretty solid criteria.
We don't generate any links
by some (more accurate) measures, we’re the 63rd most linked to sports blog, while another services sites us more in the 200 range and outside the top 50 of MLB

THIS STORY ONLY ENDS ONE WAY
the daily hearld beat writer has mentioned once that he uses this site and MLB.com as his main sources
Colon, who after pitching 5 scoreless innings, had to leave the game with an upset stomach.
not that hard to do
someone from the sbnation has a PR guy that has connections to several other PR guys that have people running blogs. An article is posted mainly to improve search engine rankings and/or serve as another source of traffic… I see this being done in start ups all the time (except not the one I work for ;) )
Lupe, release the balloons!

The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
We are like the smurfs

sign Walker to a multiyear extension.
Look who the fuck showed up.
You canot imagine my disappointment, yet complete lack of surprise, at your no-show last week. All. Hot. Air.

I think this technique of using the ninth inning of close ballgames as extended spring training for pitchers who’ve missed time due to injury might not be a great idea."

Why are you surprised?
Its the President’s favorite blog and check in after the National Security brief.
"I'm just here to provide street cred"
larry is a POS.
I blame him. Buys no one a beer. Slinks outr without hugging the organizer of the event. Doesn’t comment on being memorialized by Skanberg.
Conclusion: larry needs to be more “poster-friendly”.
8th place is BS. You know, when you were a baby in your crib, your father looked down at you, he had but one hope – some day my son will grow to be a man. Well look at you now. You just got your asses whipped by a bunch of goddamn nerds. NERDS! Well, if I was you, I’d do something about it. I would get up and redeem myself in the eyes of my Father, my Maker, and my Coach.

‘Cause when the going gets tough the tough get going! Who’s with me? Let’s go! Come on!

I think we have to go all out.
I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody’s part.

Was this site ranked in the top 10 last year?
because if not I have to say it is my solid contributions in the last 11 months that have brought us to the top of the list.

8th is not "Top of the List" in my world.
Your standards have sure fallen since your consecutive LL titles. And shame on you who rec’d that post. Why anyone would want to tear down this site is a mystery to me.
