Ozzie Guillen made the change for Wednesday's [rainout] against the Tigers, putting Jayson Nix in for Ramirez at shortstop. During his pregame chat with the media, the White Sox manager made it clear this was not a one-game respite for the Cuban Missile.

"It's hard for me to say, but it's not a rest," said Guillen of the change from Ramirez to Nix. "I always tell my players, 'Give yourself a chance. Get good at-bats.' But when you see one at-bat after another, after another, after another, and no results, no adjustments ...

"I'm not going to say I'm punishing him. But we are letting people know, just not him. We have to play as a team. We've got to see people on the field to help us." ...

Ozzie Guillen looking to shake things up
Alexei Ramirez’s benching might be the first of several moves manager Ozzie Guillen will make to shake up a stagnant White Sox team.

“We’re going to start making some moves, here and there,” Guillen said. “a few people are feeling a little [too] comfortable in the roles they have. Well, we’ll see what happens.”

Pitcher Jose Contreras remains under the microscope, and Gavin Floyd blew four-run leads twice in Tuesday’s 8-7 loss at Kansas City.

Giving Jayson Nix his first major-league start at shortstop also could be interpreted as a message to Brent Lillibridge, who made the Opening Day roster primarily because of his ability to play short as well as second base and center field.

Josh Fields said he was compensated well for agreeing to give jersey number 22 to Scott Podsednik, who wore that number during his first stint with the Sox (2005-07). The switch will be made later, with Fields accepting No. 7.

How does this blonde in a bikini look different from any other blonde in a bikini?

I'd still do her

MM has been scarce, so I feel as though I have to fill in…although I do find her attractive, despite the blond hair.

You are right. But larry is actually a prick too.

The White Sox kept their rotation intact so that Mark Buehrle will pitch Thursday night against Detroit and Jose Contreras will open the Texas series on Friday night.

The Sox will give Contreras another chance to correct his problems after considering skipping his turn – an option they could have pursued with Wednesday night’s rainout.

Pods speaks
“It would be easy to put pressure on yourself, given what we accomplished in the past,” he said Wednesday before his first home game of his second time around was rained out. "We kind of set the bar in that ’05 season at what this organization is capable of doing. "

Podsednik went on about the past, and while speaking in the plural, he may have been talking about himself and the expectations.

“It’s easy to start comparing to the championship caliber club we had in ‘05, but you simply can’t do that,” he said. "That was a special magical year for us.

“It’s easy to want to try to re-create that. But it’s a new year and new personnel and we have to try to do what we can do as a club to win ballgames.”

and
Again, Podsednik was the one who chose this opportunity to rekindle an old flame.

“If I were a younger player coming into this spot, it would have been a little tougher,” he said. “But I’ve been around. And the bottom line is to go out and let my abilities take over.”

Whatever they may be.

Herm to BA: no honeys
“As far as physical activity, you have to be as lazy as possible and let it scar down and heal itself,” Anderson said. "Those five days helped, those five days of doing absolutely nothing, as I was told by Herm.

“Today, I made a lot of progress. I got on the bike and did some abdominal work. It feels great, but just really, really tight.”

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen has expressed a desire for Anderson to get some Minor League at-bats to test the injury before his return. But the team will welcome back Anderson, who was hitting .288 with four RBIs as Dewayne Wise’s replacement at the time of the injury, after being left a little shorthanded Monday with Jermaine Dye also being sidelined for two games after being hit by a pitch.

The period of doing nothing was not a total loss for Anderson.

“Literally, I watched 78 movies when I was off,” said Anderson with a laugh.

“I expect him to go get some at-bats in the Minors Leagues to get it going,” Guillen said. “Then we’ll make a decision [on] what we’re going to do.”
