Podsednik and Fields Change Numbers
By Mark Gonzales
Scott Podsednik will get his original jersey number 22 back in time for Thusday night's game with Detroit.
Podsednik, who wore No. 1 in his return with the Sox starting last Friday, got his old number back from teammate Josh Fields.
Fields will now wear No. 7, formerly worn by Jerry Owens. Fields wore No. 13 when he was a quarterback at Oklahoma State but joked Wednesday that the only way he'd get that number back would be if he was playing at Triple-A Charlotte.
That number is currently worn by manager Ozzie Guillen.

I think he originally thought that wearing 1 would make him look faster
He realized it didn’t so he went for his old number

i saw that
podsednik isn’t good enough to pay for his own number. fields should be ashamed of himself for taking advantage of the mentally retarded.

Kenny rips Manny
White Sox general manager Ken Williams didn’t mince words about Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Manny Ramirez and past violators of Major League Baseball’s drug and substance abuse policy.
"My reaction to Manny is not an isolated reaction," Williams said. "It’s the same as any reaction I’ve had to all these guys. I think it’s fraud. You enter into a deal. You enter into a deal with a certain understanding, a certain expectation of past performance and projection of future performance. From my perspective, if I enter into a deal with a player with those assumptions, it’s incumbent upon them to be above board with everything, and if they’re not, I think it’s fraud."
Williams endorsed MLB’s drug testing policy but admitted Ramirez’s 50-game suspension was bad for baseball.
“Any time the purity of the game is put at risk, the competitiveness, the equal chance to compete on the field on a daily basis, yes it is,” Williams said. "Absolutely to the determent of the game and we are, as players, as people in management and coaches and everyone on the peripheral, I think there’s a responsibility. You guys are part of that group. There is a responsibility to be caretakers of the game, and conduct ourselves that people before us did so. Yes, if anyone tells you it’s not a black mark each time any of these things happen, I think they’re kidding themselves."
The greatest trick the White Sox ever pulled was convincing their fan base that "Ozzieball" ever existed.
